Pickups S Duncan '59 vs Seth vs Jazz?

I'd like to hear from anyone with firsthand experience with a comparison between the SD '59, Seth and Jazz.
How do they differ in sound?
I've used the '59 and found it to be a nice, natural rich sound. A bit louder than a late '60's T-Top.
How does the Seth compare? Or the Jazz?
Thanks, John

Re: Pickups S Duncan '59 vs Seth vs Jazz?

Seth is smoother and not as crunchy and the Jazz is very similar to the 59 and pairs great with it (59 bridge, Jazz neck).

My guitars right now have a 59 set, JB/Jazz set, 59/Jazz set......... I will probably replace the JB with another 59. Out of all the pickups I've tried over the last 15-20 years the 59 delivers the goods. I sold a set of Seths not long ago, great pickups just not what I was after.

Re: Pickups S Duncan '59 vs Seth vs Jazz?

I have a set of 59's in my LP and my buddy has a Seth in the bridge. To my ears, mine has a little more crunch but it's hard to make that generalization because they are in different guitars.

All in all, I have been VERY happy with my 59's and I think they are definitely a good bang for the buck.

Re: Pickups S Duncan '59 vs Seth vs Jazz?

After investigating the Jazz, C5 (for the bridge spot) and JB, I went with a pair
of '59s. And, I'm glad I did. I put them in a Les Paul Classic after listening to
those stock hot ceramics for three years. The '59s have enough crunch for Rock, but I can get them to "clean" up somewhat to play Jazz and most other styles. A couple of players I talked with that played out in my locale went with
the Jazz neck and the C5 in the bridge.
