so I recently got a 2007 alpine white custom & it's been making me miss my black KM custom that I had to let go of many years ago, so I started hunting for a black custom a couple weeks ago & today I stumbled on this 2003 Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus - QUILT - 1 of 40, I can get another black custom anytime but I'll never see another top that screams at me like this one so I bought it

thanx, I get major anxiety when I buy a guitar on line, so a little liquid anxiety killer is being administered at the moment, can't wait to have it in my hands

I have seen a lot of guitars (especially since I got to MLP) but that one is perfect, for the flame top look, IMHO. What is that color called?

Translucent "root beer" finish is what the guy had it listed as but the root beer finishes I have seen didn't look anything like this

(thanks...I have already been there and a whole bunch of other places looking for something that looks that nice...for me, I think that would be the perfect orange color...I have seen a bunch of nice root beers but they look a bit darker...very nice though...that guitar is killer looking...PRS is coming out with a new orange but they do not have a pic yet..good score

$2300 + 30 for a bottle of crown to kill the anxiety, I like nickle/chrome on a guitar but this one I think I'm going to leave it just as it is, maybe change the pups depending on how it sounds through my rig

Whoa! I've been saying on a few threads here that I've gone off the more 'bling' tops but, my word, that is remarkable! Very nice!

Never been keen on gold hardware, though. I reckon chrome hardware and black open-coils might tone the look down nicely? You could maybe try removing the covers an seeing how the open-coils look with the gold?

Ah, who am I kidding - looks great as it is!!

No, it's a Standard (Premium Plus). It has black binding on it, rather than the white or cream binding, so it's harder to see.

whats real hard to see in those pics is that the neck is bound in black also

BEAUTIFUL!!!! What a gorgeous guitar! I'm sure you'll never meet anyone else who has the same guitar as you!

May I ask whether you have thought of a name for it yet? Some people don't like naming their guitars, I know, but that one seems to be asking to be named! Something with "tiger" in it might be appropriate, with the black binding and the orangey flame.

Stunning guitar, anyway. Enjoy it!
