Re: thin les paul from 90's
It was not a custom lite. I have one and it is NOTHING like a studio lite. It most likely was an early studio lite. These were NOT weight relieved or chambered. A regular studio lite had a chromyte insert ( balsa wood basically) so technically NOT chambered or weight relieved( swiss cheese!) The first ones were similar to the custom lite in the fact that they were manufactured with much less wood to make them lighter, and that is the extent of similarity. IF there are any custom lites out there with emg's they were after market.Or I will say I have NEVER seen one that came from the factory that way!! I have a picture from gibson, but I am havi ng trouble converting it to Jpeg!

Re: thin les paul from 90's
Any chance you had a 1980 Silverburst L6-S?
It would have been thin (and nearly, but not quite SG thin), with beveled body sides. The body would have been slightly wider than a standard LP and flat on top. The pickups for those guitars in that year had black or chrome covers and no screws (so they'd look much like an EMG), but you would NOT have had a battery in the guitar. It might also have had a pickguard screwed down flat onto the body, something like an LP Special or Junior. |

Re: thin les paul from 90's
thanks for all your replies and help;
It is the one in the picture http://richackermann.com/site/guitar...sPaulFull2.jpg I'm thinking about. But I remember it being thin but perhaps I'm mistaking it for light? Has anyone a clue of how much they sell for today? Thanks again for the help... |

The Les Paul Custom Lites were made from 1987-1989. There was also a prototype in 1986. ![]() The Custom Lites had a thinner, countoured mahogany back and they have a coil tap switch in place of one tone knob. ![]() ![]() In 1989 there was also a thin body Studio Lite. Both the Custom Lite and the Studio Lite in 1989 were available with a Floyd Rose style Trem. The Floyd Lites have only one volume and one tone knob and a coil tap switch. A lot of the '89 models had an EMG style, passive pickup. ![]() ![]() ![]() I own a Black 1987 Custom Lite and a 1989 Black Studio Lite with a Floyd. I also recently sold a Cherrybrust 1988 Custom Lite. ![]() I'm a huge fan of these 1987-'89 thin LP's. Almost as light and confortable to play as an SG, but all the tone of a Les Paul. Re: thin les paul from 90's
It must have been a custom lite because I remeber it had a thinner body; I thought it was way easier to hold; I was 16 and not the biggest guy in town;
@deftone: are you interested in selling the Custom Lite? |

Re: thin les paul from 90's
Never.
I was trying to sell the cherryburst on here for a while. Sold it locally to another former Custom Lite owner. Keep searching Ebay...Most Custom Lites (like 50% +) are "Metallic Sunset" (metallic pink). But they also come in Black, Cherryburst, and very few in Wine Red, Tobacco Burst, White and I've seen one Siverburst that was dead mint. |

Re: thin les paul from 90's
@Deftone: Thanks for info and link; I had seen the ebay item already however I'm not really keen on that colour although it has some nice 'older' look;
Think I'll just keep my eyes open for the silverburst og black. Silverburst preferably... |

Re: thin les paul from 90's
Like I said, I've only seen one silverburst Custom lite and I've been looking for about 8 years. Black is somewhat common, that'd be your best bet.
