2000 Les Paul Classic
Hey folks, I'm new to the forum.
I just got a Les Paul Classic. According to the S/N system it's from 2000. I did a lot of reading here before I purchased my first LP, and I gotta give a hat-tip to that LP 101 thread. There's some minor wear on it, but no severe damage to the neck or fretboard. Top is still in great shape too. Only makes it look more bad-assed. The pickup covers were a little scuffed so I removed them. It wasn't too difficult, but I noticed a few threads on the subject here and I gotta say I don't notice a sound difference. They're SD pickups, "59 BL" and "59 NL" stickers on the bottom. I presume they mean Bridge Location and Neck Location. The top looks pretty plain, which I prefer. This isn't my first Gibson but it's my first Les Paul. It's by far the best playing guitar I've owned, and I'm really pleased with it. Anybody else own a LP Classic from this era? Thoughts? ![]() ![]()

Re: 2000 Les Paul Classic
I've got a 2005 that I love. Kept the original pups in it, I like them, most dont.
Its one of the best "feeling" guitars I have , even compared to my historics. Enjoy it, they're great guitars ![]() the snot-green inlays I'm not a huge fan of, but, they're not as "nuclear" in person I swear

Re: 2000 Les Paul Classic
Those are some nice classics there!
I have three classics. I think they are the underestimated LP. Too many people dislike them.... Good! More for me. Enjoy the NGD(New Guitar Day)

Re: 2000 Les Paul Classic
esskell,
I'm glad you read up on Les Pauls before your purchase. That is a great looking top of that guitar. Is there much fret wear on it? I also have a 2000 Les Paul Classic that I bought new in Nov 2000. It is the Honeyburst color and similar to yours. The top has a varigated grain to it I think. I kept the original ceramics in it for three years. Then I took them out and put in the same Duncans that you have. Much better for me. I keep .10 gauge strings on it. It is probably in need of a fret dress right now, but I could get some miles out of it I guess. Congrats on you purchase and many enjoyable hours you should have with it. Classicplayer |

![]() Nice guitar. Those plain tops are special in a way flame tops can't match. Of course, I like flame too, but the plain tops are in their own class, and rather elegant at that. Congrats on the new axe and welcome to the forum. David Last edited by eaglewolf; 08-29-2010 at 12:15 PM. |

Yup, no buyers remorse on this purchase. There isn't a lot of fret wear on it at all. I like it with 10's, but it definitely needs new strings and I just haven't had the time yet. I've read a few posts from LP owners knocking the Duncans, but I like em. Thanks guys! |

Re: 2000 Les Paul Classic
the les Paul classic is an truly awesome guitar. it's the coolest "vintage inspired" les paul you can buy for the money.
i'm planning on getting one myself to eventually replace my studio deluxe. i'm pulling for a promotion at work and the second i get it i'm celebrating by buying one. enjoy yours. that LP + Marshall valve combo must be a tone monster! |

Re: 2000 Les Paul Classic
i owned a lefty classic a while back. i'm still kicking myself for trading it in for a Class 5. Don't get me wrong, the class 5 was nice, but I should have kept both.
