The JamVOX software does a pretty good job, but you have to buy the whole package including speakers...I think it's around $130.

Will it save the file as an MP3 that can be copied to your PC?

If I send you an MP3 file, would you be willing to remove the guitar for me & save the file back to MP3?

A little pricey for removing guitar tracks? And will it do that?

Re: audio software to remove guitar from MP3 song

I have used it to remove drums, vocals and guitars before. Like any of these things, it depends on the mix. I have used it to convert audio to mid as well as pitch correcting vocals on a track where I only had the final mixed down 2 track version.

Jimmy: email the file to mike at b-scenefilms dot com

Re: audio software to remove guitar from MP3 song

if you can find a .OGG version of the backing track,..Audicity will load individual tracks. You can pull out delete or remaster.
As for removing from a mp3, that never going to be easy, even with Vox`s "jamvox".
I have done it with melodyne..but it wasnt fun, and took ages.

Whats the backing track?

Audacity is too hard to split tracks. Your better off using something like Adobe Soundbooth or whatever it's called, it's a good software.

Is there any way that you can confirm? Last I heard, you had to mic the speakers & record it in real time.

The track is "Celebration Day" from The Song Remains The Same. I have an mp3; but maybe the OGG can be pulled from the DVD?

No need to mic the speakers. You just use to software to cut out the guitars (as much as possible). Then hit the record button and play. Once you stop you can save what you recorded.

Here check it out: VOX | JAMVOX Plug in to your favorite band!

I'll take a crack a Celebration Day tonight and see if I can remove the guitar. I haven't played with JamVox for awhile.

Re: audio software to remove guitar from MP3 song

I got Melodyne bundled when I upgraded to Pro Tools 8.

It will pull anything out that you want but like was said earlier, in my initial explorations of the program, it wasn't easy. I only have a few hours on it. I'd imagine it would get easier with familiarity.

I haven't played with it much. It does come in handy. We nailed a live recording, but a vocalist missed one note pretty bad. Instead of trashing the track, I used melodyne and corrected that bad note. I could have removed it completely, along with anything else on the track.

I do look forward to learning more about it, but honestly it's so powerful it feels like cheating...
