1994 special

I've just been offered a 1994 les paul special sunburst, but I can't find any info on the spec. It looks great with 2 volume and 2 tone knobs, looks like abr bridge and tail peice, binding on the neck. Is it P90's or P100's on the 94?
Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Yes, p100s would have been stock. '60s neck, and most likely a two piece body. Oh, and...

I'm the same way. It's the only reason I've decided to keep the R8 and sell the Special. There's a chance I may just change my mind on that front and let the R8 go. This guitar is THAT good.

And the neck is not nearly as thin as the Classic I used to own.

Re: 1994 special

That is a very good recommendation for the special. I have an 08 classic so I don’t mind a thin neck, just like the 50’s better. You have changed your bridge to an AVRII but was there an abr on there originally and not a Nashville?

It actually had the AVRII on it when I got it. It must have had an ABR1 originally, though. It doesn't have Nashville studs.

Re: 1994 special

I have a 96 special. The P100's aren't so bad but for a long while it was my only electric, I used a P90 sized super distortion in the bridge and a gibson P90 in a BFG setup trying to get as much out of it as possible. Now I use bare knuckle P90's which sound great.

The 60's neck is a great to play but it feels fragile and notes shimmer when you move around while playing, it is a one piece neck. The body is 3 pieces on mine.

The binding is thicker than on a standard LP or SG so you don't get as much vibrato out of the E's.
