Rewiring BFG to LP standard wiring
Hello Guys,
I just bought a new BFG LP. I used to play an LP STudio Lite, but because it is very worn I needed to buy a replacement guitar, so I can retire the Lite. Now i have a problem with the switches, I'm used to the traditional PU switch in the regular position, also i always used 2 tone pots instead of 1 general tone pot. I want to re-wire the BFG so the controls are set up like an original LP. Can someone tell me How To??? I want to completely get rid of that killswitch, it sucks and hums.. THX... ![]() ![]()

I'll check it out, i hope it works because the BFG has a Single Coil P90 neck PU, I don't know if I have to change anything to prevent it from humming??? Grtz Tim. ![]() ![]()

Re: Rewiring BFG to LP standard wiring
The added tone pot will give you more control over your pickups. The normal hum on a single coil, P-90, is hard to totally eliminate. Excessive hum and there is a problem somewhere. The kill switch I like because the guitar can be shut off between songs or while working on a song without messing with the controls.

Re: Rewiring BFG to LP standard wiring
The extra tone pot is a plus definitively, but the killswitch is in the wrong place, i,m used to play regular LP's an have an automatism with the selector switch, it's funny but i keep turning off the juice instead of switching coils, lol. I guess the same problem in the pot position, I will hit it, turn off the juice and think my axe is dead and switch it for my spare guitar. I think i'll completely remove the switch and switch the switch with the selector switch (lot of switching here, lol :-)) and put an extra (4th) tone pot in it's place. I will wire it like a 50's model, and see if it breaks my heart, Thx you all, I'll let you know

Re: Rewiring BFG to LP standard wiring
You can reverse engineer the wiring on your Lite. I had one of those Lites. I miss it.
