Hello. I know there's lots of threads around about this, but damn I just can't find a solution!
I need a Les Paul with a whammy bar that can play the parts I recorded with a Strat whammy bar. Bigsby's have the wrong range for this. I also need to be able to tune to drop D in 5 seconds flat between songs. This rules out Floyd Roses. There's other custom shop things around, Wilkinsons, Stetsbars, but I've never seen these in person. Any help? I played a 2010 Epiphone Plus Top Pro today and it sounded great, I love the split pickup option and the Floyd Rose felt very nice. But how can I drop a D with the locking nut? I'm looking for ONE guitar that I can rock straight through a set - les paul thick rhythm sounds, overdriven chords with total defintion, some clean single-coiley rhythm stuff, one song in drop D, and two songs with Whammy bar stuff... |

Re: Need a les paul whammy bar with no issues
Just pick up the Gibson Axcess and a D-Tuna. Or that Epiphone.
You can even do this on the cheap. Here's an Agile AL-2000 with a Floyd and 24 (!) frets: ![]() Or an Agile AL-3000 with a Floyd:

You could just tune it by ear. Just make 6th string 7th fret equal to open 5th string. Easy as hell. Or a clip-on tuner works well.

If you don't use a D-Tuna, you can cheat and tune the low E with the fine tuner on the screwed all the way down. Lock the nut and then you can quickly back the fine tuner off enough to do drop D.

I have a gold Stetsbar available if you're interested . .
FS Stetsbar for LP . . Gold If you plan to gig with this you will need to be plugged into a tuner to make adjustments between songs. Otherwise they work great, and installation is simple drop in with no mods needed.

Use your ear! That usually doesn't take much time as long as your D is in tune. It's going back up that's the bitch.
