noob alert

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Been lurking and reading all about les paul guitars. thanks for all the information and references. I have learned a lot more about guitars in the last couple of weeks.

I am really, really, close to picking up a les paul studio from a local shop. I go in a give it a whirl every weekend!

Will a LP studio hold value in the years to come the way a Les Paul Standard does?

Welcome aboard! And, yeah, studios hold their value quite well.

Re: noob alert

i think they hold value just as much as standards. look at ebay, the proof is right there. faded studios dont sell for less then 600$ on ebay unless they're really beat up or ****ed up. regualr studios go for 700 minimum.

so if you can score one for around 800 to 900 in mint or really good condition then that's a good investment. couple years down you'll sell it for as much or a little less then you bought it for pretty much.

when u get it take pics and show us!

Re: noob alert

Let me start off saying welcome.

Allow me to move on to saying that the Les Paul Studio is an excellent guitar, and that they do tend to hold their value quite well.

Re: noob alert

My advice? Don't worry about value retention if you're buying a guitar to play. Be more concerned that it has the sound/tone you're looking for and, more importantly, has the "mojo" you want.

Welcome.

Re: noob alert

ive owned one myself, had it for about a year, it was a really good guitar, but it just didnt feel 'right', so i when i came to sell it, i was pretty surprised how much the guy offered me

i (my mum) bought it £899 i think, and i got £750 back after a year with the occational gig, it was by no means mint, had few dings and scrapes, but overall it was fine so

ive borrowed 2 friends lp studios when theyve gone on holiday or what have you, and i can say that it is a fine instrument, if you keep going back and playing it then it probably 'feels' right to you so good luck with it

Re: noob alert

I think the Faded Brown Mahogany Studios look great and they're like $950 new!
