Wilkinson compensated-saddle Telecaster bridge...

What do you guys think of this?

I have one on my Standard, and I personally think it should be the stock bridge on any American or Mexican Standard model. The intonation is very nearly perfect, and the tone is great. Installation was a simple bolt-on. I drilled and screwed the front corners of mine, like this:

It is only $29.95 from Guitar Fetish. It can be strung up through the body, or as a 'top-loader', so it will work on bodies with no holes for string ferrules.
Give me your opinion.

Re: Wilkinson compensated-saddle Telecaster bridge...

I've got 2, one chopped for my Squier '51, and one for my Shoreline Gold Thinline, I really like them, great bridge!

I'm curious, why the extra 2 holes?

In my experience with other Telecasters, notably my Mexican Nashville model, I have noticed a 'gap' at the 'front' edge, which can not be good for energy transference to the body, therefore, to 'tone'. So, on both of my Telecasters, neither of which will ever be 'collectable', I drilled and screwed down the front edge of the bridge plate.
I would not do it to a 'vintage' or otherwise 'collectable' guitar.

It's a good idea. I like the tone of brass barrel saddles on Teles, and this is one way of getting better intonation from them. I personally use the Glendale saddles, but the Wilkys also work and are cheaper.

IMHO (first time I have ever used that!) I like the milled saddles better than the ones with the center adjusting screw hole drilled at an angle. It gives a more true 'vintage look' than having the saddles angled. That always looked 'rigged' to me.

Re: Wilkinson compensated-saddle Telecaster bridge...

I have a 93 american standard that I've modded some. Texas Special Tele pickups, black pickguard. Gold control plate, the vol & Tone knobs from a G&L SCII that I really like and think look cool. I've been wanting to change out the current bridge with a gold one. I'm on the fence about changing the neck to rosewood. Anyways, do they make these in gold.?

P.S......Ix-nay on the rosewood fretboard. Sunburst Telecasters are required BY LAW to have maple fretboards!

Well if I do change the neck, it won't be the first time I've broken the law.
