Re: got's me a roadworn...
it rips pretty nice for a modern day Fender. Not that crazy about the TexMex pickups as of yet.I'm used to the vintage sound, still a great axe for the money. The "played in" feel is impressive.

Re: got's me a roadworn...
I was always kinda skeptical but Im glad to see a positive review. You could always change out the pickups.

Re: got's me a roadworn...
You know the RWs will continue to wear naturally and differently as you own them right? they just have a head start. Look at Diceman's RW 50s, it looks nothing like an off the shelf RW

Lookin' good Mike.
And snap!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() You are correct on the broken in feel, It's quite spooky on a new guitar, my 07 Standard feels stiff in comparison. I actually like the pickups, sound as Stratty as I've ever heard through the Deluxe. Rick.

Re: got's me a roadworn...
Nice score Mike! The Roadworns are great (and I definitely prefer the aesthetics on the 60's - but the 50's was the one I picked up and played and fell in love with - so I got it!).
Since Yogi mentioned her, I'll spam mine real quick. I put a Tort on mine, and put in 1966 Fender Mustang/DuoSonic pickups in the neck and bridge - both pups were rewound by WB with vintage 60's wire and cloth leads. I did a bit more body work to mine, and absolutely love it to death. I just got back from a gig with it about ten minutes ago. Here is a live shot from the other month:

didn't know they made a '50's version... ...I tried fitting a '66 big headstock neck on it yesterday, but the bolt holes didn't quite line up... ![]() I also have a couple of old "ashtray" covers, but they don't fit. Good news is the rosewood board is really straight-grained and feels perfect and since the finish is already off the back of the neck I've given it a little bit of customizing on the profile. |

Ah jeez Mike, that is as pretty a guitar as I've seen on the board, well done, so clean looking.
Rick.

Re: got's me a roadworn...
I played a roadworn today. It probably had one of the best feeling necks i've ever felt on a fender.

Re: got's me a roadworn...
If I get another Strat the RW is the ticket. I like the white one...very sweet.

Re: got's me a roadworn...
What is it you do not like about the pups.My friend felt they were a bit on the thin side. He took and put a capacitor in line with the bridge pup and totally fattened up the tone.
