Vintage sunburst Stratocaster porn

As you can see from my avatar, my biggest guitar hero is Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. But that doesn´t prevent me from loving vintage Strats as well. Tonight I had them out for a group shot that I would like to share with you all - ENJOY !

From the left : 1954 hardtail ser nr 0060 - 1957 Strat - 1957 P bass - 1960 Strat hardtail owned by Alvin Lee from 1972 - 1994 - 1966 Strat

They sure come from the same place........................

Re: Vintage sunburst Stratocaster porn

The fretboard of the '54 is amazing looking. Can we see more pics of the '54?

Strat # 60!!!

AND, Alvin Lee's Hardtail!

Welcome to the forum! You have some GREAT old Fenders! I have several 60's non-Strat Fenders, and they are all amazing. Yours must be mind boggling. Someday I hope to own just one strat akin to yours!

Whats the story on the '57? Refinished neck, or re-necked? I can't imagine that much body wear combined with that little fretboard wear.

I love it regardless!

Re: Vintage sunburst Stratocaster porn

I´m a little afraid to admit that I just had the neck refretted and planed.
I bought the guitar to play as my no 1 guitar, not just to look at, and the neck was pretty crooked, and the radius too big so it was difficult to play and get a reasonable action on. I would have loved to have kept the old look but.... Now it plays really good and it sounds out of this world ! I play it every day. Maybe I should get the neck reliced a bit ?
Once again : Sorry to all you purists out there - I woun´t do it again
Here is a pic of what it looked like when I got it :

...and here is a recording I just did with it. As you maybe know we have a climate summit here in Copenhagen in December :

...and here is a letter from Alvin about his Strat. On " Real life blues " Alvins friend George Harrison played slide guitar. I like to think George borrowed mine from Alvin to do it

both of my older Strats have had a refret. No sense owning a guitar that doesn't play well.

BTW...love the '66.

Re: Vintage sunburst Stratocaster porn

Absolutely refret and plain that bad boy if it won't play otherwise!! My '69 Les Paul has been refretted - and will probably be due for another one in a few years!

I wouldn't own a vintage guitar if I couldn't play it. Nothing but players for me. Refrets, headstock repairs, etc.

Unbelievable strats!!!
Thank you for sharing those! Great choice on getting that neck refretted and planed. It's wonderful to see someone playing these vintage guitars, as they were meant to be.
Love the Alvin connection too. I've always been a huge fan!

Thanks for sharing.

Those pics gave this Fender fan a big smile (was gonna say something else).
