Whats the purpose of a stringtree in a fender headstock?

I was wondering what a stringtree actually does on a stratstyle headstock. If it has staggered tunners it suppose to not need one anybody know why?

Keeps tension and break angle over the nut. Staggered height tuners can be enough to not need them in some cases.

Re: Whats the purpose of a stringtree in a fender headstock?

If I had to guess I'd say its because there's no headstock angle at all, so they're needed to pull the strings downwards a bit and keep them in the nut...

I may be wrong.

they angled the headstock slightly so it doesnt
use string trees, good design idea

Re: Whats the purpose of a stringtree in a fender headstock?

You are all wrong.

The purpose of the small stringtree on Fenders is so you can grow a full size Fender tree in the garden. All you do is take it off and plant it about 4 inches deep in good soil. In about 25 years you will have a big tree that produces Fender guitars as fruit. You can pick them from late August onwards, when they are ripe.

The most exiting thing is that you don't know until the fruit grows what variety it is. No matter what model the stringtree came from you could find your tree producing Telecasters, Stratocaster, Jaguars or even on some rare occasions the Precision Bass.

Plant your tree and good luck!!!

I got a few of these and have been using them on one of my Teles and one of my Strats.
