Re: Whats with Fenders relic models

It's what sells and has probably kept Fender out of bankruptcy. I personally LOVE my relic'd custom shop.

Com"on Man!!!!! kept Fender of bankruptcy Why ,I guess every average Joe can buy one come to think of it I am average I can't afford one . I think Mexico and China can account for Fender treading above water more so than overpriced beat up guitars.

Open an account with photobucket. Upload your pics to that.

Then by clicking on the little yellow icon with two little mountain type things on it, copy and past the link of your image in photobucket

Re: Whats with Fenders relic models

I don't know, I was talking to a guy the other day that is a district Manager for GC and he told me that the Custom Shop relics have subsidized Fender's business in a big way. I'm sure it's not the only thing, but it's been a big help.

Re: Whats with Fenders relic models

I bought a real cool "roadworn" mexican strat last weekend.IMO it beats any of Fender CS stuff and is a fraction of the price of the more expensive CS ones.

Re: Whats with Fenders relic models

I was just surprised that most were worn. I personally dont like it, because my guitars have a story. Its that I dont appreciate the relics or look at them, just isnt for me. I like new looking stuff, and when I bang em and scuff them etc, they tell the tale of their/my life.

Re: Whats with Fenders relic models

The Clapton custom shop signature is spotless, its one of the Fenders that I wished looked a little weatherd actually.

I find no difference in buying a relic or buying a pawn shop beater or an actual vintage instrument. All have a history that isn't original to the owner. Plus relic's already worn down nitro finish will lend itself to more natural dings down the road.

Could be hope for you & I after all, cause this time I agree with you 100% + Paying Extra for some one else to mark up a new guitar ,is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.
