Re: N.G.D - Masterbuilt Strat
Well I managed to get some better pictures taken today, I have to admit I am not a great photographer but I think they are not bad. I got a great deal on this as although new was stock that was sitting since the release in 2007.
The bodies are apparently selected by the master builder and stamped with their initials, in this case, Jason Smith. ![]() The pick ups are Custom Shop '69s in the neck and middle and a Texas Special Bridge. Initialed by Abigal Yabarra. ![]() The headstock features the builders 'stamp' ![]() I was a little weary of buying just a closet classic and not a relic, but I think each builder adds their own character to every piece so you can possibly see the dings etc. It is hard to capture, they are more dents than actual damage and severe scuffs like a relic. ![]() ![]() The big headstock ![]() The colour is actually very nice in person, changing from forest green to almost turquoise depending on the light. ![]() Overall I am very very impressed by it, the standard of fretwork has to be seen and felt to be appreciated. The neck is the nicest I have felt on any guitar. Sadly I have yet to properly plug it in as I am visiting my Mother and have no amp, but later today I will get to give it a blast

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, Awesome
I really dig the color, I bet Itīs much nicer in real life! Iīm glad you like it. Nice touch on that body stamp and the pickups. Gotta look under the hood of mine next time I change strings! Also Iīm curious as to how you like the sound with an amp. Take care and donīt let the strings get cold the next couple of days! Last edited by Olli; 10-10-2009 at 02:28 PM. |

Itīs from the same limited run. Fender marketing BlaBla on this Model was that they put the most often requested features of all Custom Masterbuilt Strats together into one Model. Aparently many custom orders included locking tuners and the newer style trem. |

Re: N.G.D - Masterbuilt Strat
Well I got a couple of nice surprises this evening
![]() Firstly I had noticed that the guitar came fitted with strap locks but I could not find the other parts anywhere. I also noticed the little allen keys were missing, as were the Custom Shop picks. I emailed the dealer who was pretty sure that although it had strap locks you had to buy the strap parts as Fender did not supply them, only the body parts. No big deal I thought and I have allen keys, and picks. So tonight I started to carefully unwrap all the case candy to inspect it properly. Guess what I found in the little tremolo spring bag? Yep the strap locks, the picks and allan keys Then I plugged it in...................... Oh my god, this thing rocks ![]() The cleans on the neck are very Gilmour sounding, Shine on You crazy diamond etc. The bridge through my Big Muff absolutely screams. I like playing the solo from Living on a prayer (sad I know) and this nails the harmonics.I also discovered that the bridge pick up is wired for tone control also. Great |

Sounds sweet man, I will have a Materbuilt one day. So far I've had four or five Custom Shops but never a Masterbuilt. I have a 15 year old Blackie on it's way to me right now. I found it on Craig's list and the guy is delivering it to my work today.

Re: N.G.D - Masterbuilt Strat
Just got it a few minutes ago, I will post pics later. I ran the serial # and it's a 1989!! The guy's Mom was friends with a Fender Exec and he got it for him. It has the slightest bit of "finish" or "jeans" etching in it and some of the screws are oxidized, which is actually pretty cool looking on this guitar. It plays very well, but I can't wait to plug it in.

Re: N.G.D - Masterbuilt Strat
Great looking guitar. The craftsmanship is pretty awesome on those guitars. Its too bad they dont build them like that anyway. Congrats
