Re: Squier J5 Telecaster...
I had planned on getting one, before I got wrapped up in some other purchases!
![]() I agree - I like it. Take off the makeup, J5!! That guy is SO COOL when he is not "in character." |

Yep, I'd own it for sure. J5 is a great player as well. Agree with Dice though, lose the make up.

Re: Squier J5 Telecaster...
I played one the other day, and it is really killer. I've been going back and forth over getting a CV tele the last year or so
and I happened to try both locally. The J5 is just as nice a guitar as the CV.

Re: Squier J5 Telecaster...
Back around April, I decided I wanted this guitar but it didn't yet exist in the marketplace, so I just made one of my own. It's a Warmoth build that differs from John 5's guitar in two ways: mine has binding on the neck, and I have a regular Tele selector switch in the traditional location instead of the toggle switch in the upper bout.
Now, for about $150 you could replace the Squier pickups with DiMarzio D-Activators and have the same pickups that John 5 has in his (unless he's changed them yet again, which I wouldn't be at all suprised to find he's done). That's $500 for a clone of his main Tele, right down to the pickups. Not bad at all! Of course, the big question, given that it's a Squier rather than a USA Fender, is build quality...
