Robert cray

I was in my local music store and was looking at the pickups. They had a loaded robert cray pick guard. Now the guitar i know is a MIM but the pups are from the custom shop. I paid maybe $75 for it and those pups rule. Quiet, clean and clear and my distorted sound now is awesome.

Re: Robert cray

I have a 2006-2007 model R C artist series Strat. Not only do the pups kick ass the guitar itself is killer!
No trem, so you can really beat the crap out of it and it stays in perfect tune.
Mine had the mint pick guard, but I changed it out w/ a quality white perloid guard and white knobs and pup covers, ala Sonny Landreth.

Re: Robert cray

I almost bought a set of the Cray pickups for my Strat but decided on Texas Specials instead. I've always wanted to try them out.

Re: Robert cray

I like the crays way more than my TS. I have played on TS or seymours in strats for over 12 years, the crays kill it all.

I just changed out all of the fender mim (including the mim pg) for RS kit with base plate, these this set up owns now..

Re: Robert cray

One day down the road I am gonna do another Strat assembly. I'll have to consider the Robert Cray pickups. I've wanted the CS '54s for a long time too. Hell, it looks like I need about 8 Strats.

Re: Robert cray

his guitar sounds like it has a preamp in it
like the sound that Eric Clapton had back
in the mid 70's

Re: Robert cray

With the fralin baseplate this set up is sick. A been if you are getting the whole pick guard is a good set of cts pots switch craft long shaft input jack and good switch. I got the rs kit and it is awesome as hell

Re: Robert cray

I too, installed an R.S. Vintage upgrade kit, w/ the .022 Jensen PIO cap in my Robert Cray strat. Definate over all tone improvement!
