Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
Bridge is installed and all wiring complete. Only thing I'm waiting on is the neck, and that will be arriving tomorrow. I went with the V neck, like the way they feel.
Anyone know where I can get decal paper so I can make a decal for the headstock?

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
Neck is installed! Unfortunately my vintage tuners don't fit...I need 3/8" to 1/4" conversion bushings for the headstock.

GFS might have some. As for the decal, do you want a Fender one? Google "Fender waterslide decals" and see if you can get one.

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
I ordered some conversion bushings, they'll be here in the next couple of days.
I found some paper at Staples. I had found a good image on the web of different style headstock logos, so I chose the '62 style, worked it through photoshop, and printed it out on the paper. It's on the headstock now, and it looks pretty good! I'm wondering if I should put a light coat of polyurethane on the headstock...

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
It's a Mighty Mite V neck, it works just fine.

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
So it's pretty much complete....I think I have to open up the nut slots for the B and G strings, they both sound like they are being pinched when I strike them open.
Also, I'm getting a lot of hum from these pickups, especially at high gain preamp settings.

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
this is a given for classic era single coils through high gain amps.

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
Is there any way to reduce this hum? These pickups are great otherwise, they really capture nice tone.

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
Unfortunately, these come with the territory with high gain amps.

Re: My Strat build thread, with pics
My strat is officially complete! I installed the vintage style string guide on the headstock yesterday, as well as picked up a nice hard case for it! I am pleased with how it turned out, it is very fun to play and has a nice sound, different than my Les Paul.
