Re: tele....best one
I'm real happy with the G&L Teles. Leo was the founder, so they'vegot a bit of that real Legacy vibe going for them too.

Re: tele....best one
bcrgreg.....I took a look at that robin guitar....I guess when I said tele I was thinking: swamp ash body, maple fretboard, and the typical pickups.... I had a great (USA) fender tele that I sold and miss so much..... I am looking to get those ringing bell like tones
if you have any more thought....please comment thank you all |

Re: tele....best one
This is going to sound stupid, but, here it is anyway.
I have two cheap-ass Ephiphone T-310 Tele copies. I think there made of 80 pieces of plywood laminated together. But, the weight distribution is fantastic, electronics suck, but they are no big deal to change out. Maple neck, ugly explorer headstock. (but the bell like tones are there)These things are definetly bastard-child Tele copies, but I love them for some strang reason. There very hard to find, but whenver I see one, I buy it. run about $125.00 used, they were$300. new in the 80's But you cant go wrong with an original USA Fender Tele. |

Re: tele....best one
I have an Arlen Roth sig made by Don Warren. Here's the link to his site Warren Guitars . Check the other Tele thread for a pic. Very happy with it. Spent a fair amount of time trying to find a Fender that felt good to me and couldn't for a variety of reasons. Met Arlen and saw him playing his signature guitar and thought I'd give it a chance. Don delivered everything I was looking for, no regrets.

Re: tele....best one
I have the Spalted Maple Tele mentioned by ArchETech, as well as an American Tele. I like them both a lot, but they do have different tonal characteristics. The American has the typical tele quack and twang, the spalted less so, but has a wider range of sound because of the humbuckers and the coil taps. The spalted looks nicer in person then the pictures, it is lighter than a standard tele, has a set neck, bound neck and body, and a 15.5 neck radius, a much flatter fingerboard than a normal tele. Both are among my favorite guitars.

Re: tele....best one
I love my Fender Custom Classic Tele. It sounds unreal. Love the 4 position switch and custom shop pickups. Just a great guitar.

Re: tele....best one
G&L ASAT! Man this guitar makes picking up my super modded R7 tough! I'm serious! and its a stock ASAT! G&L's don't have a high resell value so you can score a used one for cheap ~$800 with a gun oiled neck, larger frets, swamp ash body, sunburst etc

Re: tele....best one
I've got a Nash '52 Tele build that is incredible. Fat "C" neck, like a log.
It screams through my Marshall, and is an all-round killer guitar. BB

Re: tele....best one
This guy I used to work with. Mike Reynolds, a Machinist at the the Linear Accelerator at Stanford. He built them for himself, a redwood body, a hollowbody, etc...he had about 5 or 6 and they were phenominal. Very basic guitars, but incredible players.
