more squire porn....
Good weather today and I managed to get out early enough for some good mid day sunlit pics, this guitar still contiuues to impress me, hope to get a 60's vibe soon!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm still suprised how much flip flop (color shift) she has in the finish, major change depending on how the light hits her, need to get a decent rig for sound sample, cause she sounds better than she looks

Re: more squire porn....
I'm rather impressed. Are their higher up models much better than their starter guitars because I hated my affinity strat... I'm kind of in need of a cheaper telecaster...

Re: more squire porn....
Love that color. The untinted neck looks better than in Squier's pics. It seems to go better with the p/u covers and knobs. Well done.

Re: more squire porn....
My CV strat is better than any off the rack MIM I've played, and can rival some lower end MIA's, considerably cheaper with far fewer needed upgrades....for considerably less money. I bought an MIM tele over the classic vibe tele cause no one carries them in stores, I was scared to go on blind faith so I bought the mim, for considerably more money, and had to invest a good chunk of change in getting parts that were standard on the vibe....I dont really regeret my mim tele as I wanted an ash natural, and the vibe tele is a white wash blonde only, but the vibes really have it where it counts.
Love the 60's burst Jason, think I'm gonna shoot for the new cany apple 60's though, already have a nice aged parchment guard to put on her too....just gotta find a nice one ply parchment for my LPB 50's tele vibe pine (what the original teles were made of) ![]() 60's vibe strat candy apple

I dont think its completely untinted, just very lightly done. None of the photos are touched up, just the cameras auto proc and cropped.Another big note on the squire vibes vs MIM.....fit and finish between my mim tele and my strat are worlds apart...I had to do a great deal of fret and detail work on the mim....frets were poorly dressed, a few loose, and all were jutting out considerably on both sides (cheese grater on for your hands!) of the board, the squire is beautifully dressed, nice , smooth, even, and no sprout at all....I've been playing her a few days now and I havent even changed strings nor done a setup....not out of laziness...but simply there is no great need for it right now, she sounds and feels fantastic! |

Re: more squire porn....
I dont know how I'm gonna feel a month from now, but at the moment you couldnt pry this one from my cold dead hands, i'd rather give one of my gretsches up first...but only one!
Realistically speaking these are only entry level production and priced guitars I've ever seen that could easily take a player from beginner all the way to the very end, and likely be passed on several generations with only routine maintence done to it. Even when I'm looking at $500-800 new axes, (even several years ago) a long list of mods and "must" change items is in place even before real purchase consideration is reached. In slightly more far fetched land, given the quality of these guitars, if squier doesnt keep the line that long, and the right kids cut their teeth and then some on them, thses truely could be MIC collectors pieces, I'm not banking on that or want a collection of them for that, but I do want a 50's and 60's strat set just cause the 50's is that good to me, and I can get both for the cost of a mim with a "few" of the must do upgrades to keep it on par with the vibe.....hoping really hard fror a classic vibe 70's tele down the pike pretty soon...that would simply be awesome! By the way Yogi....your vibe youtube tone and playability demos are what gave me the final push in getting my LPB CV! I owe you one! Without the demos, I probably would have wound up at taco bell.... |

Re: more squire porn....
Yogi's demos were a big part of my buying decision too. Sad to hear you had to get rid of those.
Rondo Music sells some very impressive budget guitars too. I've got an SX which is one of their Chinese brands and it was an almost unbelievable value. They don't come set up as nice as the CVs and the hardware is a bit cheaper... but the build and finish quality is definitely on par. Those Agiles they have are supposed to be amazing and set up well from the factory too... but I would venture to guess the pickups wouldn't be quite as good as the CV's... those CV pickups are just awesome. |

Re: more squire porn....
The pups are my main love on my 50's, they couldnt be more touch responsive, your pick attack really can behave as a volume and tone control, soft and syrupy to stepping on a hornets nest....without touch a single knob on your guitar....plus they are really quiet ....and even usuable at insane gain levels.....damnit...think I'm gonna need a 12 step program to curtail my preaching about these little gems....."conspiracy theory"....ya think this might be a venture to show just what they can crank out in china at low price points....and plan to phase out the lower end mim standards and just keep "classic series, road worn, etc there and move everything else to asia?...."MIC "fenders".....that doesnt sit right with me....at all

Re: more squire porn....
Fender has been all about whoring their name out to other countries over the years - nothing would surprise me. I can only imagine the shock and horror when they first decided to make "Fenders" in Japan - then everyone accepted it. Next was Mexico - which is "ok" now too. Squier is already set up in China and Indonesia, and Fender doesn't seem to have "Gibson Integrity" if you ask me. And - I'm more a "Fender guy" than a "Gibson guy" now - but I could sure see Fender China in the next few years...

Re: more squire porn....
I wouldn't sweat it. I really like my Indonesian Squier Tele. Most of the guitars I've gotten in the past few years are American - but that lil' Tele is a fun guitar.

Re: more squire porn....
Saw a Starcaster acoustic at Big Lots for $69 yesterday... Not a bad deal I guess, but on their website they sell a kids Maestro (Gibby) Flying V with an amp and a strap for about the same price.
Wanted to get one for my son for his birthday this month but we are stone cold broke.

Re: more squire porn....
Heres a couple more I took earlier last night, really shows how the finish reacts to lighting conditions, can go from a deep sea, to a grayish blue, to a beautiful light sparkle....
