Re: Tele-ish build underway.
I went over to my buddies to see how the Maple neck for the Red Cedar build was coming along and came home with this Western Canadian Sitka Spruce tele'ish body with strat routings.
This one will have a Mahogany Neck with a Rosewood fret board. It's going to have a Graphtech ResoMax hardtail Bridge and Tail Piece. I think I will go with the Acme ToneShaper setup and more than likely, the Bill Lawrence Wilde L280/L280/L290 pick ups. I'll also go with the Hipshot Locking tuners too. Might just be a great buddy to the Red Cedar one, eh? :-)

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
UpDate:
My buddy who was doing work on these has run into martial/financial problems so both bodies are with him and on hold right now. I've shipped the parts to Ron Kirn and he is building me a couple RK Signature guitars along the lines of these two with bodies of Mahogany and Maple necks. |

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
Wow. I am not a big tele fan but that bridge looks nice i may have to rethink building a Tele.

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
What intrigued me and convinced me to try the Hannes bridge was the fact that not only do the strings go through the body, the mounting bolts do too.
I haven't heard from Ron yet as to his impressions, and I haven't tried it myself either. |

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
I received this e mail from Ron last night and am waiting for the pics - as soon as I get them I'll post them.
Needless to say, I'm really pleased about this and beginning to become anxious to receive this guitar. Del "Holy Smoke..... I just got the first Tele together and into setup..... I have never used these pups before.... daymmmm what a sound... the most "fidelity" I have heard..as clear as a bell... I'll have a pix tomorrow." |

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
Here are 3 "quick and dirty" photos(as Ron says!). I like the looks a lot, and with Ron's comments on the sounds, I am becoming anxious to get this into my hands. This might well become my number one ! :-)

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
I gotta tell ya too... I don't generally endorse any specific components, unless they are simply outstanding.....
If you are contemplating something with Humbuckers, the Bill Lawrence L 90's are simply stunning.... Ron Kirn |

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
The guitar should be here early next week.
Here's a quote from Ron and some better photos. His quote is in response to a question about the Schaller Hannes bridge. "I did a mahogany Tele with a pair of BIll Lawrence's L90s and the Hannes.... it is probably the cleanest sounding...., Clean . . . NOT BRIGHT . . Tele I have ever done... I don't yet know if it's just everything coming together at a point in time, or is it's a combination of the Hannes and the L 90s. It may be interesting to note, Bill touts the sonic properties of lighter bridges... kinda makes ya say, Hummmmm.." "I gotta tell ya... that is among the finest sounding teles I have had the pleasure of doing, the Bill Lawrence Pups with the Schaller bridge is simply stunning...." ![]() ![]()

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
The guitar arrived today. Not only is it a thing of true beauty (Thank You, Ron Kirn!), but, the sound blows me away completely. If Ron had not come up with the term "Fidelity", I'd have been at lost for descriptions.
Running it as clean as I can through my '57 Bassman reissue 4 x 10, the sound is simply amazing. And, I love the bridge - no chances of cuts or scrapes either, I can actually play much lower down the guitar, too. |

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
I had an idea to build a mahogany strat style body with two humbuckers, that color finish and a tele style rosewood neck.
![]() Matter of fact, I think I just got an another idea.

Re: Tele-ish build underway.
This guitar just seems to grow on me. The more I mess with it the more I like it.
Once I got the amp set the way I wanted, this simply sings. Clean and clear. Now, I just have to improve my "playing" !! :-) Last edited by delander; 08-26-2009 at 11:16 PM. |
