Put new pick guard on my 96 M.I.J. Tele

A while back I posted pics of my latest guitar purchase. It was a 96 M.I.J. Anniversary Tele. I absolutely hated the pick guard that came stock on this thing and I finally had time to fit and and install it.

I am not sure if this will be the pick guard that stays on her for ever, but it will work for now.

Re: Put new pick guard on my 96 M.I.J. Tele

Hmmm....it's a bit...bright...ain't it?

I have a genuine Fender Aged Pearloid pickguard on my Telecaster, but it doesn't appear quite that...ummm....shiny.

I kinda like the tortoise one on the black. Not a fan on most guitars, though.
Did a normal Fender-sized PG fit okay? I have had problems with interchangeability of parts with MIJ Fenders in the past.

Re: Put new pick guard on my 96 M.I.J. Tele

I had to do a little fitting around the neck pocket and I had to drill a few holes. All and all, it wasn't much work.

I am not really a fan of tortoise pick guards myself but it looks ok on this guitar.

I placed a white guard on it and it looked not quite right with the black body and the gold hardware.

A friends of mine has what is called "Aged Pearl" pick guard. It looks good. The same guy has a M.I.J. 62 re-issue foto flame tele with a pearl guard that is aged and looks great. It looks like a pearl guard that has sat in a smokey road house for about 10 years. His guard would look great with my guitar. I

also forgot to state that the Tortoise guard is the new guard, the black pearl was the original.
