If I had that kind of scratch!

The Gear Page

$12,000 or cash plus trades of equal value.

This is the real deal....a 1956 Telecaster. I said I would never part with this guitar, well I talked myself into it. I am taking delivery of two (2) Detemple guitars this summer and need to raise some cash.

First things first, the neck is perfect. George Gruhn was right when he said that this year (and this guitar) has the perfect shape neck. Just feels like the best feeling thing you've ever played in a vintage Tele. The pickups are great - Twang city in the bridge with just the right amount of bite. The neck pickup is spanky as hell and sounds fantastic also.

Everything on the guitar is original minus the pickguard and the case, hey if it were 100% it would be 20k. That includes all the hardware, pots, bridge, tuners, saddles, Neckplate, etc. Frets are original and do not need any work, they guitar is set-up nicely and plays great with .10 strings on a Med-low action. No buzzing or anything, neck is nice and straight (truss rod works fine)

Body dated 5-56, Neck 3-56

It's a one piece Swamp Ask body, nice grain. Its a Medium weight Tele, not a feather but not a heavy one either.

I collect vintage amps, so I might be interested in a partial trade with cash. I need about 7k in cash for the Detemples.

Re: If I had that kind of scratch!

Mmmm, nothing like a hot blonde to raise a man's heart rate up a coupla beats.

The price seems reasonable to me, if it is indeed the real McCoy, although the PG seems new. If that was offered for sale in this country, where only 2 dealers hold all the marbles, it would have a sticker of at least four times that amount in US dollars. I guess all of us would like to have access to a time machine and go back to scoop up those old guitars when no one wanted them.

Anyway, beautiful guitar, thanks for sharing Tim.

Rick.

Edit: Didn't read the fourth paragraph in the description.

Coldsteel, you had some of the nicest guitars back in the day! I bet you wished you could have held on to all of them!
