Yeah I guess that's what they get for being nice all these years instead of suing everyone on the planet like some other big guitar company....

That's pretty funny, actually, that Gibson has that up on their page! What dicks!

It would've been even funnier if they put this picture up, instead of that nice Sunburst strat!

Re: Fender Loses ‘Guitar Body Shape’ Court Case

... and now Gibson will say "this is why we done what we done"... wow, excuses and crap.

Truth is, the arrogance of Gibson is becoming a hard pill to swallow. First, their indiference to everyday musicians by pandering to collectors and those who see guitars as "securities" of some sort.

Second, Gibson is just playing victim here. Look at the famous TOM bridge. What is it? Looks to me like a miniaturized version of the Tele's sliding saddle system. It's a clever design, but absolutely not something they pulled out of thin air.

Re: Fender Loses ‘Guitar Body Shape’ Court Case

I'm reading too many decisions these days to read more during my free time. But without knowing more I found this interesting:

"The applicant has not established acquired distinctiveness such that these two-dimensional outlines of guitar bodies, standing alone, serve to indicate source. The evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that these configurations are so common in the industry that they cannot identify source."

Wow!

I see those I think Fender ,,Don't know about you !!! Fender wanted this so all copies would have to be licenced & not carry a brand name such as Warmoth but a licensed by Fender.

Re: Fender Loses ‘Guitar Body Shape’ Court Case

So wait, after 50 years, and I'm thinking millions of copies later, Fender decides maybe they ought to trademark their designs? Lack of forethought and planning, much?

Wonder how many taxpayer dollars got wasted on that court case.

Wow... that's ugly... but the more I look at it... the more I think they might be close. It's the pickguard that is really ugly and ruins it. And th orange pup covers.

Warmoth is Licensed. But if Fender had won, every Warmoth neck would have to say "Licensed by Fender" on the headstock.
