My New Strat..
Hey guys...
I took some vacation time this week and thought i would go guitar hunting.. I have been GASing for a olympic white Strat with a maple neck. Went to the locally owned stores and came up empty. All thier Strats have been adjusted to the new price increase (which I expected) but no one willing to haggle at all.. Then just happen to go to guitar center and they had the Olympic White Strat on the wall and the price tag was $950. I asked the GC dude if this was NOS or something why havent the price been increased. He told me that he chaning the tags today to the new price. . I looked at the serial # and notice it was a 2008 Strat. My theroy was it is an NOS model that GC wanted to make room for the 2009 strats.. But i not going to say anything.. I got a American Standard and new HSC for $1000. Here are some pics..![]()

Re: My New Strat..
That is flippin sweet. When I bought my Custom Shop Strat, I was a rosewood guy and now I'm liking maple, so my next Strat will be like that.

Re: My New Strat..
I like Strats and Les Pauls as far as body shape, better than any other guitars.
Strats are better couch guitars. The are made for being lazy and lounging around the house an banging around on. Strats are cool because you can change virtually anything on them. I love Oly white and what they call vintage white. I want a white strat with a black guard. I have a black strat with a white guard, lol. I have 3 strats, 1 tele and 1 Les Paul DC standard + and currently, I don't even own what you would call a traditional styled Les Paul at this time. Strats are cool and I'm really starting to dig my new/old m.i.j. Tele. I have strats with maple and rosewood boards. I like them both. I have found more maple boards that I just didn't like the feel of-finish wise that is. I don't know why, but it seems like I have found more sticky, tacky feeling finishes on maple boards. sorry I am rambling, I was up later and got up early, lol. Nice score. I pretty much like all guitars as long as they play well and feel good in my hands. The light in your group photo makes the frets on the new strat look huge-super-mucho jumbos, lol. |

Re: My New Strat..
Beautiful Olympic you scored there, and at the old price, double score.
Fender really kicked a goal with the '08 updated standards, I know mine is a monster in tone and playability. Here is a pic of my '07 ('08 spec) with her HWY1 sibling. ![]() ![]() Rick.
