Ahh, yeah I ran across that awhile back. It would be really nice to actually have all those sample blocks. Personally, I've been in love with Daphne Blue ever since I saw that relic'd Strat on reranch.

You on a Fender kick lately or what, Flick?

Re: Vintage Fender Colors

I know I am. On a Fender kick, that is. I think the lake placid blue does it for me. But...I'd also kinda like a cherry red Gibson special. And there is a new PRS Mira ready to hit the market at about 1,700, I think. Decisions, decisions. I don't need a new guit, but I may get one by way of celebration if my contract is renewed come June.

Re: Vintage Fender Colors

I'll take one of each please.

Really though save the pink one, there's not a single one of those colors I wouldn't love to have on a guitar.

Re: Vintage Fender Colors

A baritone? That's definitely a cool idea. I need one of those one of these days.

Here's the Daphne Blue relic I was talking about:

I really dig the painted headstock look as well.

Re: Vintage Fender Colors

Callaham makes and markets good stuff. I have their bridge & saddle set-up on my Tele. High quality gear, and the Callahm shop is very responsive. I think their in-house Teles & Strats have about a year waiting list.

Re: Vintage Fender Colors

Iceman--Howdy. Actually I think I mean Mira. It's a Mira X, or something like that. Anyway, a downscale Mira. Basswood body, dot inlays, different pickups, basic threeway switching--a few other changes, an econo version Mira, but made in the Maryland factory. Check it out on the PRS site. You may like.

I knew this pic before - itīs from a shop in the netherlands (i.e. Holland)

I played one like that at a dealer and as much as I liked the color in pictures - it didnīt look as good in person. Too bright. I like the color when it is aged with an ambered clear on top as it has a hint of greenish hue in vintage guitars.

I just bought a Daphene blue relic Strat off ebay, the color was what i was looking for (all else being what I wanted too). The thing is that they don't do a
very realistic job at making the green guard, and when they stain it, it looks more brown than mint green. I've got a real deal '61 so I could try to get the reissue to look a.c.a.p to it. The guard has alot to do with how it looks overall, I'd pay good money for a guard that looks like a vintage if I knew where to get it.

One of my favorite colors is not evan on there, Olympic White? That's what my '61 is, and the guard stands out against the white body. Just realised that black is not on there either, not much could screw up matching new black to vintage black.

I'm also a big fan of fiesta red but it has to be just right, most factory Fender reissues don't have the "it" factor. If you search on ebay for "fiesta red" you'll see some antique dinner ware bowls, plates and dishes made of plastic "fiesta ware" they called it.
