Finally Reacquired a Telecaster

Traded my '94 MIJ Telecaster at the Arlington Guitar Show last October. Been missing it ever since. So, I patiently looked and searched and finally scored this used 2012 Fender American Deluxe. These are photos provided by the seller. Expect delivery by Friday, and I'll post a few more.

Anyone here own or know much about this particular Tele? It sure looks great. I tried one out at GC recently, and that's what put me into acquisition mode.

Thanks, gents. This was not an impulsive buy, which is somewhat unusual for me. Did a lot of sleuthing and researching to find a used one is excellent shape. Do y'all know the function of the S-1 switch on the volume knob? Think is has something to do with phase with PU switch in middle, maybe?

Re: Finally Reacquired a Telecaster

"American Deluxe Telecaster

On the current version of the American Deluxe Telecaster (and its ash-body version), the S-1 switch built into the volume knob puts the two pickups in series when the blade switch is in the middle position (Telecaster pickups are normally wired in parallel). This creates a fatter, rounder tone kind of like a humbucking pickup with the top-end character of a single-coil pickup. When the guitar’s blade switch is in the bridge or neck position, both settings operate normally and the S-1 switch doesn’t do anything."

So, I figure wiring pickups in series is similar to series wiring speakers or batteries...doubles output rating? Or, in the case of pickups, just generates a different sound? Well, it does give the guitar a 4th pickup combination.

I think it's just a vinyl decal. Purty, though.

Thanks Nicky, a lot of my favourites are my more unusual geets, something about them being more unique, the LP Recording is special too.

I've given some thoughts on a few in my GotM thread (which I should get back to one of these days).

The LP Recording is a throwback to Mr. Les Paul himself! Low impedance, balanced output...brilliant!
