Re: Tele love.Show 'em.
I picked up an aged cherryburst American Deluxe Tele this weekend, figured I better get one before the price went up; these are going up to $1749.

Re: Tele love.Show 'em.
I hate the way Teles look...but for some reason I had to get one. Glad I did, but I still hate it!

Re: Tele love.Show 'em.
Here is a Seafoam green "Surfcaster" Tele I put together for myself a couple of weeks ago. It has 2 volumes and a master tone with standard 3 way switch.

Then when Fender first started installing truss rods in their necks (1951) the slotted cross adjustment was down at the heel. Seems like the 69' thinline Teles still had the walnut plug on the headstock and adjustment at the heel. I think the Fender "bullet" truss rod type from the late 60's early 70's may have been the first adjustment up at the headstock that Fender came up with, not sure. Then later on they did the recess at the headstock for the truss rod adjustment. Since then it's just been a combination of those types depending on the model Tele, (Strat) etc. no set rule that I know of.

Been beat to sh!t but great guitar. I have the Strat version too, a 1988 Japan model that is HSS (routed by someone before I bought it) and is also Black and also beat to sh!t. Excellent guitars. It's my Keef guitar - 5 strings in Open G (GDGBD). I'm going to be changing it to one pickup only as that's all I need for the Keef stuff and it isn't routed for a 'bucker and I never use the Tele neck pickup anyway. I prefer to put 'buckers in the ones that are routed (I'm going to be putting one in my Roadworn soon I think) or a Strat neck pickup in there if they are not or just Esquireize them. I'm going to Esquireize the Black one, put a Strat neck pickup in the Sunburst one, leave the White one alone (maybe put in a Lil '59 Duncan at some point), and probably put a PAF type in the Roadworn. I bring it out when we are doing 'Honky Tonk Women". So many people play that in Standard tuning with barre chords and it drives me nuts. But I'm probably the biggest Keith Richards fan there is. That's why I love humbuckers in the front of Teles (along with guys like Rich Robinson who just followed Keith's lead). He's by far my favorite rhythm guitarist. I love that loose feel he has and his right hand technique is killer and those Open G riffs are so innovative and he truly is a Riffmaster.
