50's Fender strat the same as early ESP Traditionals?

I purchased an original ESP (not ltd) traditional last summer. This guitar is by far the best "strat" I have ever owned or played. After making the purchase, I sold my 62 hotrod reissue because it could not touch the traditional!

After doing some research I read an article that said fender sold the old machining equiptment to ESP well after cbs bought fender out. ESP started making their version of the strat with diff. Headstock designs with this equitment.

Has anyone else heard, or read of this? Is there anyone else out there who ownes one of the early guitars? The original traditionals, when you can find them are steadily increasing in value.

ESP has reissued the traditional and even has a few "beat up" reissues for sale now. Any moore info on these great guitars would be well received.

I hear they are great guitars, and that they are incredible for clean settings.
Kirk Hammett of Metallica owns one, and has recorded some parts of a couple songs with it. They look awesome too!
