That's badass. The number 2 guitar on my want list right now is a Charcoal Frost Metallic Strat with a body that's been beat and worn to hell. I was gonna try to do something myself with a little more "artistic" approach, but I may have to look into pricing from him.

Thanks for the post!

I just recieved delivery of my new MJT Fiesta red strat body today. Great timing on the post Flick.
Waiting on a Custom shop 69 loaded mint green pickguard and wilkinson brass block unstamped vintage trem before i can get it together. The checking doesn't show in the picks but it looks sweet.

Re: MJT – Custom Aged Fender Guitar Finishes by Mark Jenny

For someone who's never done it before, how easy/hard is it to swap all the parts from my current USA Strat onto one of his custom bodies? What tools/skills are required other than unscrewing/screwing? I'm assuming some light soldering?

It's very easy, just need a soldering iron, screwdriver, couple of drill bits to fit trem claw screws and strap locks and a couple of rags or towels to protect the old shiny body. If you aren't comfortable doing a setup on it i'd recommend just putting it in to get it done at the shop. If you are then go for it. De solder the jack to trem claw and swap everything over. Then re solder to claw. Same with pickups to jack, Easy. Be sure to check that you have a vintage trem before ordering the body. There are heaps of clips on youtube of the assembly process so it's worth having a look at them before you start.

Thanks for the info. My current trem won't work with his custom bodies?

Nice bodies although not to the level of what Bob Davenport does. My humble opinion, of course.

I think you might have a 2 point trem? If so you would have to re drill the body to take the two point trem. If it has 6 screws at the front of the trem plate, a vintage tremolo, it should fit.

Yeah, it's just a 2 point, I believe. A stock, maybe '99 (?) Standard American Strat. I bought it basically new but don't remember what year that was.

I found it at GFS, at 37 bucks i thaught it was a great option seing as i plan on aging it. It will be my first attempt at aging so i didn't want to risk screwing up an expensive callaham etc. Having a second look it might not be a wilkinson? I was tossing up between this one and the stamped wilkinson with solid steel block. The wilkinson stamped one also had a stamp on the trem plate which doesn't look true to the vintage look i'm going for.

Re: MJT – Custom Aged Fender Guitar Finishes by Mark Jenny

yes i see that does appear to be something else.i thought they'd brought out something new with a brass block i was going to try for a change.
small point, irrelevant to some, but the wilkinson has staggered holes through the block too so each string breaks at pretty much the same angle.i thought it was nice.
i've had a few,aged them,I think they're pretty much tops actually.
wouldn't think twice about putting a wilkinson strat or tele bridge plus their tuners & P90s in something

Yeah i'm kinda pissed that the one i ordered isn't a wilkinson but seems to be made for gfs. Still, i hope it's decent enough quality. The brass block hype got the better of me and i like how it hasn't got a name stamped on the plate. With a little luck the fender stamped saddles from my classic 60s mim will fit on it or the block will be suitable to swap out with the classic trem. I'll let you know what i think of it and if it's worth the 37 bucks when it arrives.

Re: MJT – Custom Aged Fender Guitar Finishes by Mark Jenny

dont they sell brass blocks specifically for the mexican and various trems?
ive generally gone for the 1 piece trems ive found on the old japanese strats now and have a spare wilkinson brand new here that may or may not be utilised for something

Yeah, they have brass blocks for mim, import and usa. I've read somewhere that the later mim classic series and road worn trems are pretty close in spacing to the usa vintage. I don't know for sure but it would be awesome if the blocks and saddles where interchangeable. I think the brass blocks alone are about 25 bucks so i played it safe and went for the whole usa trem kit for 12 bucks more.

I'm trying to put this thing together on the cheap but still hoping for it to end up better than my best playing/sounding strat which is currently a 60s road worn. The 7.25 neck profile is choking out on 2 step bends on the 14 to 18th fret high e string. Hoping a 9.5 radius neck on this one will prevent this problem.

Here´s 3 pictures of a "Yngwie" yellow i custom ordered recently.
It´s made from photos of Yngwie Malmsteen´s the Duck which is a old olympic white which has gone yellow.
I´m holding it in different angles to show it´s different nuances in different lighting.
Don´t have a body yet to spray it on and yes it´s 100% nitrocellulose
