Modified '63 Jag

I bought this guitar today,it's a 1963 Fender Jaguar. Here is the seller's description:

"The guitar was customized in the early 1980s by its previous owner. The guitar has an attractive Shorline Gold Metallic Refin, Two Bill Lawerence Humbucking pickups with coil split switches, and anodized pickguard. The neck has been oversprayed, is
stamped Nov 63, has a larger profile, clay dots, and Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. Included is the original tremolo arm and its original hardshell case"

Re: Modified '63 Jag

Pretty cool. It looks like something Kurt Cobain would have picked up.

Where are the original switches etc? Looks more like a jazzmaster.

Re: Modified '63 Jag

Thanks for the posts! This guitar was modded 30 years ago so all the original electronics are long gone. The pickguard makes it look like a Jazzmaster but it is a Jaguar as you can see in the photos of this guitar and a 63 Jazzmaster below it.

Re: Modified '63 Jag

I like it. I imagine the changes knocked quite a bit off the price, but they're certainly changes I could deal with. Congrats!

Man, that's some ugly routing work though! At least it's buried under the pickguard.

Re: Modified '63 Jag

Damn, that looks great!

I'd love a Jaguar with humbuckers. Very Kurt Cobain-y, as someone mentioned earlier.

Re: Modified '63 Jag

Thanks! I had been thinking about getting a Kurt Cobain signature Jag and this was about the same price.

It will make a nice set with my other Fenders.

Thanks! Well actually, the Cobain Jag is a little less,$1299 new. My '63 Jag cost $1499 but I think it is worth it.
