I assume it was sold and not acquired at Manny's ?

If he never played it i don't think i'd pay that for it even if i could afford it. It looks mint.

I thaught he would have been gifted his gits direct from fender?

I hadn't seen that. Maybe it was on account or something and the account was paid off after he died? The sellers claims there is a verification letter from his management and that should be easy enough to check.

No, he was pretty well-known for walking into Manny's and buying several at a time, from what I've read, although that doesn't seem pertinent to this guitar as it's a repair job, it's claimed.

I'd like to have a 69, just because it's my birth year. I wouldn't pay that for even a Jimmy Strat though.

That's my usual response to vintage Fenders with the big headstock.

Speaking of guitars from 1969, I have to start checking out which LPs were available that year and maybe buy one some day. Or maybe and SG or 335 instead.

It would be cheaper to just get one of them greasy groove decals made up for your MiM.

I actually always loved those big gnarly headstocks. No way I'd pay that kind of cash for it though! As it I could afford it anyway.
