Re: how muh does your strat/tele weigh?

My '83 Fender toploader is slightly heavy at around 8 lbs, but my Squier Classic Vibe 50's is extremely heavy - weighs in at over 10 lbs.. But it plays and sounds great, and that's why I kept it.

The Vintage Modified Thinline is light as a feather.

Re: how muh does your strat/tele weigh?

Depends on the make. My brother has a Charvell that is all brass parts and it weighs in at just under 17 pounds, without the brass it still weighs almost 11 pounds. My Tele is in at 7 pounds and my last Warmoth was in at around 9 pounds.

Re: how muh does your strat/tele weigh?

My Tele weighs a hell of a lot less than my Les Paul, I know that.

But seriously, according to my bathroom scale, which isn't super accurate, it weighs a little over 7 pounds, which is pretty light for a Tele. I'd imagine even a Strat would have to be made of some pretty choice lumber to come in around 7lbs.

My Tele's 8.8, virtually the same as my R8. I've hefted Strats that were light, and Strats that were cinder blocks. Wood varies.

Is weight important in the quality of a strat?

Re: how muh does your strat/tele weigh?

My MIM tele standard is 8.4 lbs.
The Les Paul Jr feels like a feather in comparison, at 6.8 lbs.

A pound and a half doesn't sound like much difference, but that's almost 20% of the total weight of the tele.

Re: how muh does your strat/tele weigh?

My two MIM Teles are about 8lbs, the beater Affinity Tele is about 7.5.

I had two other Teles which were heavier. A MIM 50s Classic which was 9.5lbs, and a Classic Vibe Squier which was a whopping 10lb +.

Dont own them anymore, bought two Melody Makers which are feather light in comparison.

Weight is definately important, especially when doing 2 hour + gigs!!!

My 76' Tele is the heaviest guitar I've ever owned. Certainly over 10lbs, maybe even 11.

My 1979 USA Banjocaster weighs 10.6 lbs. I can't play it, with it being a righty - I bought it as a future investment for my grandson.

My '11 American Standard Tele comes in at 8.1lbs. Given all my other guitars and basses weigh between 9.5-10lbs, the tele feels like a feather and is a real treat to play.
