Re: New Jazzmaster
Yup.
I got a pair of Curtis Novak "Jazzmaster PAF style humbuckers", and they kick ass. Highlights:
This guitar is a blast. I keep waiting for the honeymoon phase to wane, but every time I pick it up I am seriously stoked. The JM is a great complement to my Les Paul.

Re: New Jazzmaster
Do I also see a Mastery bridge in there?
I'm wanting a Jazzmaster again after I foolishly got rid of my MIJ one last year. Might try and get one of the new Squier J Mascis models. One of those and some Novak pickups (Was thinking some regular JM ones or Wide-range 'buckers) would still cost less than a Classic Player JM. |

Re: New Jazzmaster
Yes, there is a Mastery bridge there. It's a solid bridge. I don't have any buzzing issues, or strings popping out of the saddles. However just for kicks, I am considering a mustang bridge. The Mastery doesn't have the same "floating" movement as the the stock fender bridges, and this translates to popping noises, much like you hear at the nut while tuning, when I use the tremolo.
Edit: Re Novak Pick Ups, mine are killer. I would purchase others from Curtis. Yes, MXR Phase 90. I really like that peddle. It's a staple along with Fuzz and Delay. |

I am currently experimenting with treble bleed circuits in the Jazzmaster. I picked up a few 100K and 130K resistor and a few 0.001 mf and .0022 mf capacitors and I am experimenting with different combinations both in series and parallel. It’s wild how much impact different circuits have on the tone and volume controls. Point being, experiment. |
