Question tremolo screws on strat

Hi folks!

I have a cheap strotocaster copy and I just discovered that one of the six screws on my tremolo (the one all the way to the bass side) was drilled so it tilts to the side which makes a much larger friction and makes my guitar go out of tune...

Is it possible to only use 5 screws and just take out the one that is drilled wrong?
I know I should plug and redrill, but I have two gigs this week and do not have the time for that just now.

Btw I use ernie balls 11-48 and the bridge set flat to the body if that makes any differense...

Sorry for any mistakes in my english...

Re: tremolo screws on strat

Might help if you let us know which location it was. You really only want the plate to pivot on the 2 outer screws anyway. If it is one of the inner ones, take it out.
The 2 outer screws should be down touching the plate so it pivots on those. The inner ones should be slightly higher so the heads do not touch the plate.

I have set it up the way you said, but my question is if it is ok to take out the outer screw and leave the bridge pivoting on the screw wich is next to the high e and the a string...

Thanks for your reply!

Re: tremolo screws on strat

Sorry, I missed that bit there.

Try it. I'm sure it won't be any worse than it is now. Drop the next screw down to take the roll of missing screw.

Could have had it fixed already.

DC DOES NOT EQUAL OUTPUT. Dc is a resistance value and that is all. It WILL NOT tell you what it will sound like, it WILL NOT make you sound like another player.

Re: tremolo screws on strat

Take the screw out and glue in a tooth pick on the side of the hole and that should make the screw go straight down where it should be.
