![]() i've only owned my LP Standard for a few months (bought it brand new sometime in March) but i'm already noticing nasty looking grooves and lines from the strings :/ then, ive seen pictures of people's guitars on here who've had their axe A LOT longer without any noticeable fret damage... i might post some pics, and it might be no big deal, but it bothers me that i have deep grooves already. i don't want to be a Nazi about keeping it perfect, but i want the playability to last awhile . . . anyone else notice fret damage after a short period/have pictures of it? |

Re: Do all epi's get fret wear this quickly? :/
Remember that Epiphones aren't top notch quality so sometimes stuff like this happens
They could just need to be cleaned. Tape up your fretboard and leave the frets exposed, then take some steel wool to it and see if that helps your problem. |

What strings have you got on it? If it is the set that came with the guitar then, no you shouldnt have fret wear for a good few years, even on a cheap guitar. My SG310 has that problem - easily fixed with a fret file. Use light guage nickel strings on it and you should be fine.

This is not to say that the frets are junk, just not as durable as higher-cost frets of harder, and harder-to-work-with material. |

Some grooves in your frets from the wound strings is normal and nothing to be too concerned about. All of my guitars have them.
