Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
Talking about the Classic Customs or the one in my sig?
Is there such a thing as a Classic Custom? The Epiphone site turned up nada, as did a quick Google search.

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33037&SID=I-080511&item=170202949514
that is the link to the one i found on ebay that sold. check it out. i read his feedback from guy who bought it and he was very happy with it. i really felt the sound and the feel compared to my Squier Satin Trans HH Strat but thats a no-brainer. my girl put the epi on hold & my bithday is 6/4, i plan to add Gibson burstbucker pros , i white pickguard & white volue/tone knobs......Whattayou guys think? 649 bucks a good askking price for this axe alone?... oh yeah it was accent music, here in the 1st State Delaware (Thorogood Shreddddddddddddz) |

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
I would try both and go with the one that you're more comfortable with. The Classic custom sure do look killer with that gold binding but then again its just all aesthetics.
Play both and see which you prefer..

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
thanks a bunch guys, I decided to go with it because it's so unlike what others will have (especially after my mods) and it was such a heavy(weight) and enticing insturment. I did enjoy th sound but like i said, its gettin burstbucker pros immediately anyway. I;m really glad that I found mylespaul.com
this community thing is awesome. Thanks again and CHEERS to all |

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
This guitar is really twisting my gut right now. I'm completely happy with the 06' Gibby LP Standard that I got and I will not sell it or trade it for anything less than a Historic. BUT, the Gibson Classic Custom with 57's was my first choice. It was just too much money for me at the time. $700 more than what I could spend I had to pass it up. Since then the price has gone up $300!!!! AAAAHHHH!!!! So, for $649 (obviously not the same guitar as the Gibby but dur obviously) I'm in!!!!!! I think I found my LP backup!!!!!! Anyone know where to find specs on this????? Oh yeah, how am I gonna pay for this? I'm broke as a mofo lol!!!!

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
That definitely looks interesting. The yellow is throwing me a bit, but there's no denying it'll stand out. Is this a new model or an older discontinued one?

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
Just got a coupon in the mail from the music store where i put this on hold and this Sat. they are having their 20th Anniversary sale with 50% of of the orig. price for any guitar in the store That day only. So the price is now $541.00 !
So of course i hopped in my car with my right foot in a cast and carefully drove to this store to play that beauty again....... AWESOME through a peavey head and cabinet. If ANYONE is interested in this SALE and you can make it to Delaware by 9am Saturday May 17th let me know because you can walk away with a Epi Slash for $600 clams or a Gibby Studio for $800-$900 (amps 50%off TOO!!!!!!!) They even had 2 more of the Epi Custom Classic (black/yellow/gold) there and today, the owner of the store said that they are so new Epi hasn't even put them on their site yet..... that's why info was so hard to find. Sorry for the novel guys but I felt the need to spread the word...

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
I have one of these. Epiphone LP Custom Classic Antique, bought it on-line from Guitar Center. It says limited edition and has an Epiphone Custom Shop stamp on the back of the headstock. I bought it for a project guitar. Right now I am in the process of installing Gibson 490R/498T pups, bone nut, Grover Deluxe Keystone tuning machines, RS Guitarworks pot upgrade with vintage wire, Switchcraft switch and input jack, Schaller strap locks, Gibson vintage reissue strings and top hat vintage knobs to replace the speed knobs. I think I will go to the Gotoh bridge just because....
I am working with a local luthier and have been following some of the suggestions from Roman Rist on the epi setup thread....last night I sanded and steelwooled the neck just for fun. I wiped it down with Gibson guitar polish. nice looking and slick too. Another week or so and I will have this done. I am looking forward to the finished product. |

I saw one at guitar center yesterday. It's nice but It bugs me that all of the binding is yellow EXCEPT the top edge of the binding on the fretboard. I mean it seems "aged" yet that one area sticks out like a soar thumb. The inlays and nut also look brand spanking new and out of place.

Re: epiphone les paul classic custom
My project guitar has hit a snag. I got it back from the luthier and the gold switchcraft 3way switch I provide has a threaded shank that is too short to work with the flat nut so the guy just installed a chrome switch. I am having a hard time understanding the logic but now I need to find a gold switch with a long threaded shank or a gold deep threaded nut. I have been scanning the web but not finding it. I don't want to put the import switch back in the thing. Can anybody help?
