Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top Cherryburst

Hi i bought an Epiphone Les Paul off ebay(£250 new), wanted to know your opinions on the photos please if you think its a fake or whatever, i definatley think it is. i know its stupid of me and now im paying for it.

The guitar stinks of glue and paint so bad
i noticed how off centre the bridge is from the body look at the first 3 pictures

What does anyone suggest i do ...?

which seller did you get it off from ebay? looks like a wrong'un to me. the serial number is usually a giveaway, with the letters bigger than the numbers.

The top isn't in line or bridge either and the knobs look off. Fake for sure. Why people dont buy from guitar center or musican friend at all? or any local stores or Craig's list?? contact ebay right away there pretty good at this and you might get your money back

Send pics to Gibson - service at gibson dot com - to verify it is a fake. Contact paypal (if that is how you paid) and contact eBay and let them know you received a counterfeit Epiphone.

Sad thing is, there are a good number of very reputable music dealers who sell their surplus stock as marked-down specials on ebay. For example, I have purchased a BBE Sonic Maximizer and a guitar case for a Strat from Music 123 via ebay. Prices, service, and goods were (and are) first class. But, of course, I knew who Music 123 is. Definitely not some shady character half way around the world.

Thanks i just emailed them, hoping they will help me so i can get a statement to send to paypal... i know its stupid me buying it but they pics were of a real one not this one and also the guys feedback was 100% with lots of sales, now dissapeared! damn...

i really don't get this crap that some here spout about ebay and buying off ebay in particular.

yes, there are auctions for fake guitars, but there are also a lot of real guitars on there. i've got a 66% success rate on ebay for Epis, and only found out about the fake after being here for a while. i've spent, in total, about the price of an Epi '59 model. let it go. and in the uk, as a rule, 'mom and pop' stores are few, far between, and crazily expensive due to the property taxes levied on businesses.

in short, the internet is always cheaper, and lay off the new guy, guys!

don't feel bad. you were taken for a ride. not your fault.

Another poster gave you solid advice. but again- email pics to Gibson asking it's authenticity and then show that proof to paypal. As long as you do this before the 45 days of purchase you'll be ok. I'm happy that you paid with paypal for the buyer protection.

if you decide to buy from ebay or craigslist in the future make sure to post pictures of what you're looking at in the fake epi thread. shifty is awesome and will help you along with the other.
