New Les Paul? -- Epiphone Les Paul Super Classic

I was browsing Ishibashi's site and I came upon this

Epiphone Les Paul Super Classic

It says that it's a "Collaboration" between Gibson and Ishibashi, although I can't be too sure. Regardless, this is simply beautiful.

were you reading the ad in english?
did you go to ishibashi.co.jp/eng then clicked on electric guitars then clicked the picture with the epi les paul classic with the Y39,800?
or was everything in japanese?
or were you in the U-box section?
the english is a bit sketchy because they used a web translator and some words could be off. for example, collaboration was transalted to koraboreito.
hum buckers was translated to ham backer

i think it's made in china. differences? from a regular MIC les paul, this one doesn't seem to have the grovers, this one is a custom shop/limited edition model, it has volume/tone knob pointers. "rongutenon" it probably has the long neck tennon. and from what i can understand from the very sketchy translation, the pickups are burstbuckers?
"Is this a burst-backer of an open type?&? is set by the Zebra specification."
very cool guitar,

Yes, it's an Ishibashi exclusive and no, it's not new.
As far as I know, these are at least around since 2008.
Epiphone also made/makes a "'59 Standard" for Ishibashi, which is different to the limited "Les Paul Standard 1959".
They're not made in Japan!!

Sorry guys, I was looking at Ishibashi and Digimart, but I can't find one, either.
Looks like they're discontinued.

But here are two threads about the Japanese '59 Standard.
This one's recent with a member asking about upgrading the wiring. '59 Standard Reissue Wiring Change
This one's from January '09, when a member here first found one at Ishibashi. Epiphone 59 Standard Re-issue, With Pics!!!!!

The basic construction (long tenon, real maple cap with flame veneer, etc.) is the same, as far as I know.
The Japanese '59 has black shielding paint in the cavities, which the regular 1959 Standard doesn't have.
From what I've read, the Japanese ones came with Burstbucker 1&2, instead of 2&3 on the regular 1959 Standard.
They also have CTS pots(?) and ceramic disc caps, the regular ones come with Alpha pots and Mallory 150 poly film caps.
The Japanese '59 also follows the normal Epiphone serial number format, whereas the 1959 Standard (and the Tribute) have their own serial number format, starting with an F.
Also, the Japanese '59 had teardrop bursts while the regular 1959 Standard has rimbursts.

so that's why i thought something looked odd about the '59s in the link you posted. they had the teardrop bursts.
and the one i bidded on had the rimbursts.
now i know the difference.
thanks again shifty
cheers!!!
