Re: My soon to me LP
Nice! You don't see too many of these OBL Limited Edition LPs.
It was a Sam Ash exclusive, if I remember correctly. Welcome to the forums.

OBLs... AKA, Original Bill Lawrence pickups. Gibson bought the trademark off Bill after they had done some work with him. They said they would use his designs and then just slapped his name on their own designs which weren't remotely like his. Needless to say, he was pissed. It was the last straw for him and when he was forced to learn how to be a businessman. |

Re: My soon to me LP
No, they came stock like that. I've seen maybe like 4 or 5 of them total, here on this forum.
There aren't really many of them around, I guess. ![]() You'll never guess were I read about them. Epiphone Les Paul Sam Ash OBL Limited Edition: Harmony Central User Reviews ![]()

Re: My soon to me LP
I don't have any experience with them, but the issue is if you want to keep the look of original you don't have much options with the all black. I'm sure they are just as good as the originals, or if you want something nicer you may have to get some Grovers or Klusons and paint them black. Buying the Wilkinson's and removing the tips and putting them on yours is also an option.

I'm sure a few will chime in with what would fit and won't. Also look at Untitled Page they have some pretty good cheap parts and have a pretty good following of fans. |

Re: My soon to me LP
Email Jay at Guitarfetish and tell him what you got and what you are looking at. He will email you back, very helpful guy. I would ask him what size the wilkinson's are and when your epi comes in take out a tuner and measure it up. You will have to make a new hole and have extra holes from the old tuner screws. There are ways to take care of that if you want.
