? Epiphone les paul ser#

Okay been trying to figure tis one out I have what is suppose to be a 1993 Korean Epiphone Les Paul the serial number is on a slip of white paper on the back of the head stock abvove the tuners and below the tuners is a water slide decal that reads made in Korea

it is only a point of curiosity because I really like this guitar so what ever it turns out to be is Okay

the Serial # reads 2A 010619

any help would be appreciated

stick it into the epiphone dater site, and this is what you get

Error Page

it looks like a korean '90s epi, though. if shifty doesn't weigh in, PM him or GNR4EVR. they know their stuff

good looking guitar, man

Re: ? Epiphone les paul ser#

By slip of paper do you mean a small sticker? If so that indicates a factory second (as far as I know). I thought all Korean models that weren't seconds came with the metal plate at the neck joint on which the serial number was engraved.

Re: ? Epiphone les paul ser#

That's an odd one.
I've never seen a serial like that, before.
Is it a used or 2nd? Those always got stickers with weird numbers.

Also, is that a real ABR-1 bridge, or did you use conversion studs to install it in the M8 bushings?

What do you mean, no metal plate with a serial number?
Epiphones don't have metal plates with serial numbers, except the models with bolt-on necks.

Amigo,

Is it possible that the "2A" could be "ZA"? I found this, and it may help you. Either way, that is an amazing burst.

This is what each character means:

“I” = Factory/Country
“04″ = Year of Manufacture (2004)
“03″ = Month of Manufacture (March)
“1245″ = Manufacturing Number

This is the factory/country code “cheatsheet”:
KOREA: I= Saein, U=Unsung, S=Samick, P or R=Peerless
CHINA: DW=DeaWon, EA=Gibson/QingDao, EE=Gibson/QingDao, MC=Muse, SJ=SaeJung, Z=ZaozhuangSaehan, BW=China

JAPAN: No letter or F=FujiGen,J or T=Terada
INDONESIA: SI=Samick

It was just a thought, but I was wondering if it was referring to the Zaozhuang Saehan factory in China.

I did read the above, that's what lead to my question about what metal plate you're talking about...which you still haven't answered, by the way.

Didn't the MIK models have a plate on the back that had the serial number on them? I was looking at one in a local store about 4-6 weeks ago that had that plate. I believe it was a Standard so I don't think the neck was bolted on but I could be wrong about this. The store is an authorized dealer so I highly doubt they screwed up and got themselves stuck with a fake.

Only bolt-on models have metal plates with the serial#.
Early Korean Epis had the serial number on a sticker. I think, it was in '93, when they started to use the silk screened serial numbers.

A pic of the headstock back would beneficial here. And is it me or do those frets look really fat? Did this ever have a re-fret done? At any rate the top is stellar - Congrats!!

Ive got a 1996 MIK LP with the bolt on neck and metal plate with serial number on it. Been told by various experts on here that it is an LP 300. Looks just like a Standard from the front. Not bothered if its a set or bolt on neck it plays brilliantly.
