Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul - MIJ

here is a 2004 Epiphone Japan LTD ED Les Paul Standard LQ HS, which is basically a cherry sunburst top color

this example has faded to the point where there is no cherry red left to the top color, with the exception of a few traces of red under the pick guard, under the pickup rings, and under the switch ring

A pretty impressive, real ‘burst fade; Enjoy ……………

LTD ED Les Paul Standard LQ (HS)

small bit of remaining cherry red finish under the pick guard

small bit of remaining cherry red finish under the pick guard & under the neck pickup ring

original cherry sunburst, faded to the point of depletion of 90%+ of the red; NOW a nice 'honey burst'

Nice guitar - perhaps sprayed by the same person at Fujigen who did mine. They look like sisters. I will have to look under the pickguard to see if it the same.

Re: Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul - MIJ

i've stuck Angel out in the back yard as we have some sun today. i even remembered to cover up the fretboard and pickups, thank goodness. bit of a heath robinson/rube goldberg job involving some torn up envelopes, but it should do!

the Bacchus BLS-59 HB has a factory finish that is 'pre aged' to look like a 'burst after it has faded

when I received the Epi about two months ago I was quite shocked to see that the naturally faded top color is almost identical in color as the 'pre aged' Bacchus top color

it just made me that much more impressed with the Bacchus

No, it is an Epi Elite MIJ with the open book headstock. It is sitting at my in-law's place in Yokohama now. I just had time to play it a bit unplugged and snapped a few pics during our trip there earlier this month. We will be moving to Tokyo in August so all I have a couple of months before I can have a real close look and see how it sounds plugged in.

Well, My 05' MIJ Laquer series arrived yesterday. Whoever had it before me, changed all the cream hardware for black including the pickguard and swapped the pickups with Korean Epiphone pups! I suspect all from an Epiphone custom!

Re: Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul - MIJ

I spent the day reworking it to my liking, added Fatboy Foley aged switchwasher, jackplate, aged toggle switch, pio capacitors, new white rings(will age them myself later) and a new set of Throbak SLE-101 Limiteds. At 8Lb-10oz. It's very woody and resonant.

What labels are on the backs of the pickups? If the pickups were from an Epi Custom, they'd be gold, though. That pic doesn't make them look gold.

There the brass backs with epiphone engraved on the bottom. There chrome covers, either way they didn't belong and it was listed as 100% original.

Re: Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul - MIJ

Hi

I'm new to the forum, and was doing a search on the Epiphone les paul made in japan LTD LQ. 2005 model, BONE NUT.

I have one of these fine guitars, so I will just give my review of it here.

First of all I have had four Japanese les pauls, one Greco and two Orvilles, and this Epi.

The Greco was nice and sounded great but it had a super chunky 59 baseball bat neck and I couldn't play it for 10 minutes before my hand started hurting.

The two Orvilles I had were nice looking lemon drops, but both suffered in tone, they both had dead bodies, they did not ring out acoustically when played unplugged, and just plain sounded bad to my ears. It's about 8 lbs 8 ounces.

This Epiphone ltd lq is the best sounding Les Paul I have ever played, the fretwork is stellar, I have never seen fretwork this nice, well rounded frets, and super nice attention to smoothness on the fret ends. This guitar has such easy action that a set of 10's feel like 9's, easy bending.

This guitar is the most resonant acoustically vibrant sounding Les Paul I have ever had in my hands, in fact it's as loud as my strat unplugged.

The neck is just a tad thicker than a slim 60's, but it's just perfect for my medium size hands, it feels great.

This guitar sustains like no other Les Paul I have played, and I have played a lot of them at guitar stores and friends.

I don't think I would trade this guitar for anything with a Gibson logo on it, I have never picked up a Gibson that sounded and played like this beauty. I bought off EvilBay for $825.00, so the price was fair, yet considering what this guitar is, to me it is worth a lot more.

If you ever get a chance to buy one of these Epi's, I hope the one you buy sounds and plays as good as the one I bought.

Here are some pics

I was watching that Epi on ebay, it looked like a nice piece of wood. I tried to make buy now happen for me but could not do it, congrats. I also just got my first MIJ and have only picked up my Gibson once or twice since getting it. I don't think mine plays as good or sounds as good as my Gibson but is so much better that my MIK Epiphone. What does that guitar weigh?

Yeah! I was watching that too but, I have 3 and already have that color! You are not kidding! I've owned hundreds of guitars and as far as Les Pauls go, these are some of the best playing sounding ones I've ever owned. You discovered the same things I did. 10's feel like 9's and play like butter, there very loud and resonant and have a natural sustain unplugged, that is almost endless. These are as good as any custom shop guitar or better. Honestly, I have a Navigator and and new R8 and my laquer series guitars are louder than either one unplugged.
