Please Post Pics Of Honey Burst Or Vintage Sunburst Les Pauls

After barely missing out on a Trans Amber a couple of days ago I am GASing for a Plus Top. I'm not going to rush my purchase and will wait until the right guitar and deal come along. That being said, I am having a tough time deciding whether I would prefer a Honey Burst or a Vintage Sunburst. To help me make up my mind can everyone post photos of theirs? Seeing them will help me decide which I prefer but if the right guitar and deal came along in the other finish I would, of course, jump on it.

In the meantime, post those photos folks! Thanks in advance.

Re: Please Post Pics Of Honey Burst Or Vintage Sunburst Les Pauls

I got this photo off the GC website. I am not sure which finish this is but I think it looks pretty damned good. I think it is probably a Cherry Burst but I am not 100% certain.

That's Cherry Sunburst. But that picture is outdated and doesn't really show the little details you'll get with an Epiphone.

The top hat knobs aren't gold, they're amber. The tuners aren't Kluson-style, you'll get grovers.

The truss rod cover, isn't shaped like that nor will it say Gibson (like in your picture).

And the plastics (pickup rings, pickguard, pokerchip) will most likely differ in color, so that picture gives you a misleading idea.

It was more the finish I was looking at in that photo. While I like the Cherry Sunburst models, I sometimes find them to be too red for me. I've also noticed a lot of iced tea/tobacco burst finishes on here lately and am liking them more and more. Because of that I've narrowed my choices down to Honey Burst or Vintage Sunburst. Seeing photos here will help me decide which I like best. Besides, I'm thinking everyone here likes guitar porn

Right now, I'm leaning towards Honey Burst because I think the Vintage Sunburst finishes are sometimes a little too dark around the edges and I like seeing as much of the body as possible.

Posting pictures is easy once you get the hang of it.

First you have to know the direct address of the image you want to post. For example, I'm going to the link you posted, then I'm going to click on an image to view it, then I'll right click the image and either choose "View Image" or "Copy Link Location"

Then you copy the direct address and paste it between the tags ""
Like so: ""

Nice looking guitar by the way. My Honeyburst has a cherry colored back...yours has a sweet looking brown back!

i'm not 100% sure about my finish cause it looks more like a tobacco burst than a vintage sunburst but since epiphone (what i know) never made any tobacco burst LP's mine is probably a VS

Honeyburst is a great color... although it comes in some variations so finding which honeyburst you like best can be interesting. Here's 3 different honeyburst tops. You'll notice some have more orange, some more brown and some more yellow in them but all are confirmed honeyburst with Gibson.

Honey Burst sure are sweet. I've only seen one in person. when I went back to GC to buy it, it was gone.

I've also grown on the standard tops. I owned one and sold it for a plus and now I think I like seeing the standards wood grain better- funny how we change.

By standard top do you mean Plain Top? If so, I've never seen any that show off the wood grain that well.

yes the plain top. ???? I see a lot just in the pics on this forum... you can see the grain on a pic or two in this thread.

granted it's not as "flashy". But to me it's very "classy" looking

Not as flashy but very classy is a good way to put it! Most of the Plain Tops I see in stores around here are either Ebony (which I think is actually a separate model on its own) or Heritage Cherry which I don't think looks very nice in Plain Top.

If I don't find one used I might consider buying new from a store and would save some cash by buying the Plain Top.

I thought this thread was going to make my decision easier but, even though I am beginning to lean towards the Honey Burst, the Vintage Sunburst models still look great!

I'd have bought a Plain top if I had found one when I bought my +. I hope I can find one of these yet.
