noisy bridge saddles

My bridge saddles keep vibrating loose on my Epi Standard. I tighten the annotation screws and it stops it but after a day or two it comes back. Is there anything that can be done to make it stop or if it must be replaced, what bridge should I put on it? This vibration is driving me nuts!!!

Re: noisy bridge saddles

Clear nail polish to hold it(wire).

Re: noisy bridge saddles

You are using the intonation screws for what?

They don't tighten the saddles, they move the saddles forward and back to change intonation.

Pictures might help.

Re: noisy bridge saddles

If you're looking to upgrade, get a Gotoh.

same thing happened to me. pissed me off sooo much

i replaced it with a gfs roller bridge because i have a bigsby and it solved the tuning stability issues and the stupid noise issues

Re: noisy bridge saddles

I am not using the intonation screws for anything. The only way to make the vibration go away is turn to the intonation screws slightly until it makes it tight...but it comes back. So my intonation is off and I got a crappy vibration.

Re: noisy bridge saddles

The bottom of the grooves in your saddles are too wide ond/or uneven, so that the strings are moving back and forth in their grooves. One solution for this is to get a "razor saw" which has a very thin blade, and cut a thin frove in the saddles to secure the strings.

But I don't think highly of Epi bridges. Mine was of a smaller radius than fretboard, making the G and D strings much higher than they should be. I just bought a Gotoh. But these Epis do have a warranty, and it should cover this problem. I didn't pursue this route, because (after 3 months of use) the chrome plating was wearing off my bridge, and that isn't warranted.

Re: noisy bridge saddles

This may be a dumb question but do you need to file grooves in the saddles of the new Gotoh bridge or are the pre-notched?

Pre-notched, but very shallow. They're just barely deep enough to keep the strings from popping out when you do bends...most of the time.

Re: noisy bridge saddles

last thing, got my bridge today in the mail...this may be a stupid question but which direction do you think the adjustment screws should face...towards the tail piece or towards the frets?
