I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
....
Think they'll sound awesome if I pull 'em out of the case after letting 'em go for a few months?

Dunno, let me check on my Epi, that I haven't really played in months.
![]() It's sitting on a guitar stand, though, not in a case. |

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
Here in Florida they definitely wouldn't due to the humidity rusting out the strings. In Cali? No idea. Probably won't sound too bad.

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
I left my Lp in its hard shell case all last week. When I pulled it out to play it , it sounded like absolute shit. I let it sit on its guitar stand for a few days and now it sounds great again. I don't get why it sounded so bad after being in its case? Maybe it was because it was cut off from the air for so long? Anyone know?

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
The Epi LP Standard I sold last week came out of the case perfectly in tune and sounding just fine after sitting in the case for a month.

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
I fail to see how leaving a guitar in a case can change how it sounds. Especially an Epi with its 2 inches of poly. I think the main thing that would change is your perception of what you Epi sounded like the last time you played it and then becoming accustomed to how it sounds again.

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
2 inches of poly does not account for the neck, strings, environment, any of that sort of stuff...plus if it's cold outside your pickups won't sound as good vs. warmer temperatures.
(BTW....Now....What if I'm top wrapping too? I WANT TO KNOW!!!)

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
The faux fur material used in most guitar cases is a well-known absorbent of MOJO. In fact, its properties have been known to cause unwanted incidents of tonal paralysis in many guitars. Therefore, it is best to not store one's instrument in its case for extended periods.
Leaving a case open and in close proximity during a jam session is a risky proposition, as it will suck all tonal nuances from the music, and can cause the player to lose focus during critical moments. The well-informed musician is wise to make sure that all instrument cases are closed, latched, and if possible, stored in a separate room. |

I'm not meaning to cause an argument but if you find a '59 Burst in the attic of your old aunt Mildred that's been up there since the days before sliced bread do you think it's going to sound shit? Shit hot maybe?!

[QUOTE=(And for Pete's Sake STOP TAKING THIS BLOODY PLACE SO SERIOUSLY! It's a bloody EPI!!!
)[/QUOTE]Sen it may be just an Epi, but with a few subtle changes it can be whatever you want it to be! Take mine for example, i changed the pots, caps, pickups, knobs, tuners, strap buttons, neck and body, and now it plays and sounds better than the 3 Gisbons i've never had!!!

You're most probably right, but if i could have a Gibson i would change the pots, caps, pickups, knobs, tuners, strap buttons, neck and body, and then it might play and sound better than the 3 Tokais i've never had!!!

I've seen the youtube clip of the Daybreaker you have. If I had one of those my Epi would be in it's case and under the bed. |

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
Hi Cookie Boy!
Hey....this guitar has become my daily "beater" ever since I got it!![]() As far as Les Pauls go... ![]() ![]() But yeah...Standard Andrew's right. That other guitar....it plays that well. (Hell, even took band photos of it yesterday. It looks awesome at night too. The stage lights really make that top pop!) ![]() Now....don't get me wrong...I still take this along as a backup.....it's still a nice guitar...(Lord knows I've upgraded everything on it!) But....there's good. and then there's really good...

Re: I haven't touched my Epis in weeks...
My guess is that your confidence in it is low because you haven't played it recently.
A real burst would probably drive your confidence through the roof, so it sounds great to you even after it's been in the attic for 50 years. Plus, no tube amp sounds amazing when it's first started up because the tubes are ice cold. My JCM sounds dry as the desert for about 5 minutes when I start playing.

My Epi's...they're good guitars. I even have used them in lieu of the Gibsons for playing out live. Purposely. That Custom Shop stuff is just on a different playing field. There is no way I can take a cheap MIC or MIK guitar and compare to something that was put together by a shop of people using the best materials and construction methods possible.
