Help!!
Ok, I just talked to the owner of the store I go to and he gave me some advice. Either I should buy an Epiphone Elitist and use my normal Fender amp the came with my Squier, or buy an normal Epiphone and buy a Line 6 Spider 3 amp. Any advice? I need some help here.

Re: Help!!
I had one of those Line 6 Spider III amps, and it's got a shit ton of effects and presets, but it wasn't really my thing(I've been spoiled by the tubes!)
But if you're looking for a modeling amp, the Spider III should tickle your fancy. I just re-read the original post, and if I were in your position, I would take the Elitist for now since you already have a usable amp. As diceman said, upgrade the amp later on down the road. |

Re: Help!!
Well, I do like the Line 6 Spider 3 Valve Amp, but the problem is that I don't want it to overheat in my room and blow up or something. Maybe I can just get the normal Epiphone and put Gibson hardware in it, like Burstbucker Pro's for the pups and Gibson hardware for everything else. Man I hate this, I'm working my ass off to make some money and I don't even know what to do with it. I have only 788.00 saved up :/

Re: Help!!
I think you better buy the best guitar in your budget...the amp goes second...
If you're gonna play somewhere they gonna give u an amp, generally a good one...don't waste money buying a super amp to play in your room... If you like the effects just see this.... G9.2tt I ve played one...and sounds really really nice to be digital stuff...and it has tubes!!!! all you have to do is take the time and learn how to use it... and you will have your FX ready to take'em everywhere...

I go with a better guitar first~!!! The amp I'll wait till you're ready for something with a little more power and tone (like tube) and get the best for your budget~!!!

Re: Help!!
I'd take an Elitist over a Gibson Studio any day of the week.
Don't blindly trust a salesman. Also - a side note in reference to your original post - Gibson hardware won't fit on an Epi. Tonepros or Gotoh made hardware that will, though... |

Re: Help!!
Don't worry what some sales guy says, it's just his opinion. Other people will give you different opinions. Just play as many guitars as you can, and pick the one that feels best. Picking a guitar isn't about who says which guitar is best, it's about going with your gut. One of them will feel right to you, and that's the one you should get.

Buy a Gibson studio from me, so I can rape you for 15-20% markup and boost my shitty 7 bucks an hour to $15 bucks an hour today! My buddy at GC said the same thing. (mind you he NEVER saw or played an Elitist). I proceeded to bring my Elitist in later and he shit himself. He was amazed that the binding and wood looked and felt better then his handmade Gibson Standard (not even a studio) Most people at GC don't know shit and will steer you wrong 9/10 times. Take your time. Do some research.. and listen to exactly what I say! ![]() good luck

Just out of curiosity, how old are you? Do you REALLY want to spend over a grand on a guitar or are you letting salesmen and members of this board influence your decision? |

Re: Help!!
I also would HIGHLY recommend playing an Elitist and a Studio side by side, for that matter, grab a Standard vs. the Elitist. I bet you will be amazed and walk out with the Elitist.

Re: Help!!
I am sorry to say, I am not getting an Elitist, I am 13 years, old and I do not need a 1,100 dollar guitar. However, I will be getting an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Antique Ivory with modifications of Nickel Gibson Burstbucker Pro pickups in it. Besides, it would take me a long time to make 1,100 dollars.

Re: Help!!
They don't overheat man, thats a characteristic that only a few have. DO NOT worry about that at all (is there a problem with an electrical source?) Seriously thats a non issue. Any tube amp will be just fine if you go that route. If you go solid state, its still very important to test everything available in your range. Solid State can be quite generalized unfairly as being inferior in sound. While that is mostly true IMO, not all solid state amps sound the same. Ironicly, most tube amp makers like Hiwatt, Orange, Marshall, Traynor, Peavey, etc all make SS amps. And ironicly, wouldn't you think that Marshall and Hiwatt would make the best solid state amps out of the bunch? Well they don't. Don't follow the name. I would look at the Roland Cube, Vox Valvetronix, Tech 21, Orange Crush series, and maybe some Randall (I had a Randall RG100 Stereo Chorus 2x12 combo that ripped! great cleans too!). Anyway, what amp do you really want?
