Epiphone LP Wiring

I am going to rewire my Epi Lp with 50's style wiring.I removed the plate on the back and I don't understand the stock wiring scheme. There are wires gong everywhere. My Gibson LP is wired very differently. Should I remove all the wires and rewire it following a Gibson diagram? Is there such a thing as an Epi Lp wiring diagram?
Thanks for any help

Re: Epiphone LP Wiring

If it was me...I would disconnect everything, then re-wire it to your 50's scheme.

Re: Epiphone LP Wiring

I hate the wiring. It took about an hour to figure out what all the wires are going to.

Re: Epiphone LP Wiring

I would gut it and take that silly connector out that they install at the factory. Just totally rewired mine with all new shielded wiring, CTS pots, and Cornell-Dublier capacitors and it sounds totally amazing. Oh yeah, I also put a Super Distortion in the bridge and PAF Pro in the neck. It rivals my more expensive guitars now.

Re: Epiphone LP Wiring

I put new Mean 90's in my Ultra the other day and was disgusted by the stock wiring. I had a rehearsal that night, so I didn't have time to do anything about it. However, tomorrow will be a complete re-wire (I'm taking my own advice). I'll post before and after pics.

Re: Epiphone LP Wiring

it really is a rat's nest in there. I'd rewire it, but I suck at soldering, and I don't wanna burn out any of my pots.
