Zakk Wylde or Slash Signature

this is probably a dumb post but i was curious on which you prefered.

even though i'd never buy a signature, i prefer the slash sig. mainly because i'm not too fond of emgs on les pauls. although, in my opinion, the epiphone finishes on the zw guitars look a lot cleaner then slash's

The Slash is more of a real LP. Really there isn't much about it that runs contrary to what LP's have traditionally been. Zack's guitar on the other hand is fairly far removed from LP tradition with the maple neck and EMG's.

I would go for the Slash.

I dont like the EMG in a les paul neither...And the Slash's bridge is better I think...

in not too big on the whole, playing someone elses guitar. nothing against anyone who do happen to buy signature models. just not my thing. i prefer to buy a guitar and set it up my way

also, the only epi signatures that i actually could play are the tony iommi sg and the paul mccartney texan... left handed haha

haha, yeah, i'm not too fond of the bullseye look. just personally think the finish looks a lot cleaner on the epiphone models as apposed to the epi slash sunburst.

The slash is probably nicer - but not worth the $1k that they're going for - so, given the prices on them, I'd go w/ the Zakk. For the $1k I'd be going for an Elitist, every single time.

Are the Slash models coming in a hard case? If not - they're actually MORE expensive than the Elitists (as the Elitist arched top case is worth about $150), which is totally nuts. Even if they do, they're still w/in $50 of Elitists - which is crazy enough in itself.

You get the hat though... I guess...

Nothing against the guitar - just the price - way too much - and the spontaneous $300 price boost over the last week is total bullshit...

Its also worth mentioning that a lot of the regular Epiphone line have medium and long tenons in the first place - something that they're pushing pretty hard about the Slash. My Epi Goth has the transitional medium tenon (which is the same as the long tenon, minus the tongue) - I've seen pix here (Eggy I think?) with a regular Epi with a long tenon. The dirty fingers pickups sure don't make it worth $450 more than the regular Epiphone + Top ($550) - like I said, I can see the $699 that it was introduced at, but not $1,000 - no way.

Agreed. Further proof of Gibson's integrity and "money over customers" mentality. I was a big supporter of the $700 Slash model - seemed very reasonable with a few nice upgrades. Not so impressed now. $300 more for the hat -> is pretty outrageous.

Hey Guys,

I was thinking about getting the Zakk Wylde Bullseye Epiphone, i think it looks fantastic and the maple neck i believe to be a plus, only thing i would do would be to purchase his signature EMGs, really think that will be my next guitar...

But if i hit the lottery, i will buy the Custom Shop version..

I find the Zakk pretty appealing - the white bullseye (or the old school red one). I bought an Epi Zakk camo w/ a camo hard case (Gator) in new condition for $500 - it was on consignment at our local shop (and a great deal!) - it really played and sounded great. I picked it up for a buddy - so I only "had" it for a very short time and haven't played it since, but he really likes it.

I'm willing to bet that its a stock Epi Zakk... I highly doubt that he's got any pimped out Epis that he uses regularly - I think he's playing the Epi for promotional purposes more than anything... and it sounds GREAT!

Hey Dice,

yes since getting back into playing and discovering Zakk Wylde, i am so wanting to get the Bullseye, that guy is crazy on the guitar, been practicing some of his licks, but my classic 57s just don't match the sound he is able to produce..

Gotta have that guitar...

Yes,

i had the chance to check that out, it was mad crazy...shows you don't NEED the 4300.00 Gibson version, to get his sound, just wonder if it had the Epi pups or was it modded out with the 81/85 pups...

i might get ripped on for this but i wasn't digging the tone at all. really sketchy and the clean was just awful. i think zakk is an amazing guitar player so it's not me just nit picking, just my $0.02

Yeah - although - how many companies do you know that would announce a product and a price, then pull it, then bring it back a month later WITHOUT the hard case (as was in the original listing) and with a stupid hat, and then jack the price up $300?

I'm offended that they think that I (as an Epi customer) am stupid enough not to notice...

Well I know I won't have a problem with all this, cause I doubt I'll be buying a guitar NEW anytime soon.. unless its at a 50% sale one of our major distributors always have every 6 months.

Used/Great deals for me.

true enough...

maybe they should do the same with the zw signature. pull it, then post it back up with a bls vest and or his chain guitar strap (just a thought haha)

I love the Zakk LP with the maple fretboard; I tried one out and it had a sweet tone kinda bites - looks pritty strange thou, I haven't tried the Slash.

i would get the slash....i am kind of a purist, and it looks cooler to me. plus the pickups in the slash would probably sound better to me. that is just my 2c.

I've played em both.. The slash would be great if it were the original price. All of them that I've seen have come with a case. Just didn't like the look of the zw.
