1959 Les Paul club
Just got mine yesterday. Thought I'd start a thread to keep track since it's a limited run. Mine is iced tea burst, and the certificate says it's number 32/1959
I'll try and post pics if I can figure out how to upload them. Anyway, feel free to post the type of burst you got and the COA number. |

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
It's typical Epiphone quality and I'd compare it to the Slash model. The store I got mine from had 2 - a beautiful cherryburst and the iced tea. I really wanted the cherryburst, but it had too many little flaws. For example, the pickup rings looked slightly warped and the sides had dark spots/discoloration in the grain. I wound up with the iced tea burst and the fit and finish is almost flawless. Playability wise, out of the box it needs a good setup, but I think it has potential to be a keeper.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
What was the price tag? I ordered my Faded Ice Tea through Long McQuade in Vancouver BC for $940 CAD. Still waiting for it. Good thing I have my Epi Dot Studio to keep me company.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
I didn't mean to sound so underwhelmed in my first impressions, after all I bought one. It's just that at the end of the day it's still an Epi. Don't get me wrong, the '59 is a good guitar, just not worth $899. If it didn't come with the case and wasn't limited and if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on it I would have passed.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
I really like your answer man. Most feel the need to really talk up a new guitar that they just spent a ton of money on even if its a dog. Good honest reponse. Its a good guitar, probably about $400 overpriced and at the end of the day, its an Epi. By now most of us know what to expect from Epi regardless of what they call the model. Know that going in and your good.
Congrats on the new axe.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
Congratulations!
Can you confirm that the frets are closer to Gibson size rather than the lower Epiphone size and that the neck is 50s rounded (rather than a standard Epiphone or even Gibson Studio-like neck, which is called a '59 neck)? Thanks |

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
To answer your question about the neck, it's a nice fat rounded profile. Very comfortable. I'll try and post pics this evening. BTW, I got it setup and I can honestly say I like it much better than the Joan Jett Melody Maker I traded.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
Please see Measuring a Neck for "Feel" and add your measurements. That'll give us a good idea how the neck feels, and if they tried to reproduce the original.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
Thats actually a really nice finish. Quality wise im not surpirsed to hear that it needed set up and such, I think a lot of people were getting too hyped about this thing. I think they should have given it an older looking headstock, but it looks great.

Re: 1959 Les Paul club
Could you take a photo of the back of the headstock/neck? Is there a lamination there, or is it really, as rumored, a 1 piece neck with headstock wings and a 2 piece heel??
