If it was korean the pickgaurd screw would be smaller and closer to the edge.

Under the fretboard...at the truss rod?
You sure must have a weird guitar if the nut is glued on there.

Neck snaps like a pencil, but the nut survives a nuclear blast due to the excess glue. ??

Re: Broken Les Paul Silverburst Head Stock Repairable?

I'm sorry if this sounds frank niguy1, but Shifty and Sinmastah are probably the best people on the thread to decide where this guitar was made and if it is real or not.

Just so you can stop making a fool of yourself!

This is about the funniest thing I have ever read.

No worries though, I'm sure you gave every one who read this a good laugh.
Just for future reference, I corrected you.

1. they are called block inlays, and no, they are not exclusive to koreans, they are on customs, korean, chinese, whatever.

2. wether an lp has tophats, speed knobs, or reflectors, does not indicate that it is made in a specific area, but you can get a set of speed knobs for under $10.

3. customs were made in korea, japan, and china, but today, are being mass produced, in Qingdao.
No worries,

Re: Broken Les Paul Silverburst Head Stock Repairable?

I'm in the process of replacing a headstock on a Epi Custom. You have the advantage as it looks like the entire face of the head is intact. You could remove the face and rebuild the head like I did with a scarf joint and volute so that a break will never occur again. Here's some other progress pics...

Well obviously I didn't notice that area if I'm talking about the nut.

WTF are you talking about? All customs inlays look like that, the knobs on customs are speed knobs. Most of us prefer the Korean made ones as the QC was a lot better than the current MIC versions.

The fakes mostly come from CHINA not Korea, another case of too much talking and not enough knowing.

LOL, yep its a fake, korean guitars are supposed to have speed knobs, and block inlays, just like niguy, the epi expert, and number 1 contributor to factual information about epis said.

So what have we learned from him??? We have learned that every Korean epi that is not a custom is fake, and every chinese custom is a fake.

What about Japans, I can't wait to here some information from niguy about MIJs. Wait let me guess, all studios are fake, because the fake makers forgot to put pickup covers, binding, trapezoid inlays, and they painted them the wrong color.

Now that I'm thinking about it, it would have been a pain in the ass anyway and too expensive to fix. I'll just buy a new one or something...
I'd say you're better off that way.
Paying over $200 plus shipping, plus repair?
you could get used Epi for less without needing a headstock repair.

No worries! You gave me a good laugh!

For future reference...

All customs have block inlays, and speed knobs, wether they are MIK, MIC, or MIJ. Customs have multi ply binding, and headstock binding.

Studios, have no binding, dot inlays, and no pickup covers.

Standards, have no headstock binding, but they do have neck, and body binding, top hat knobs, and covered pickups.

Thats about it.
